Black Christians : Was Jesus Married? Old Papyrus Mentions 'Wife'

Peace

How many times over the years have some of y'all tried to crucify me for saying he was married to mary magdalene? And had children..

They were married in ca'naa where he performed his first miracle.

You make a good point. We are all entitled to our personal thoughts and opinions ... some of us live a fact free live style, however.

Was Jesus Married? Old Papyrus Mentions 'Wife'

A small fragment of faded papyrus contains a suggestion that Jesus may have been married.
The fragment, with just eight lines of text on the front and six lines on the back, is from a fourth-century dialogue, written in the Coptic language, between Jesus and his disciples. In it, Jesus speaks of "my wife," according to Harvard professor Karen L. King, who discovered the fragment.
"The most exciting line in the whole fragment…is the sentence 'Jesus said to them [his disciples], my wife…" King said in a video posted to Harvard's YouTube channel. The next line of text reads, "She will be able to be my disciple."

Peace In,
...Now we talking Bro. Clyde... the following adds to your assessment ...

Continuing from Bulletin # 93; Yashua's (Jesus) Journey Teaching part 3... When Yashua (Jesus) reached the age of twenty seven, his mother Maryam sought for him a wife Having mentioned to him it is time to marry and have a family, fearing that his Radical Opinions would cause him great harm. Without his knowledge his mother had already picked for him a wife, name Mary Magdalene. She lived in Bethany in the east on the Jordan River. For she was one who witnessed his baptism, and listened to his teachings, along with his disciples, longed for his return home. After his shahaadat (declaration of committment) and his break from the restrictions of the Essenes, he began teaching his inherited knowledge, with his wife Mary Magdalene and son at his side.

At age thirty-one, he traveled from Jerusalem to Arabia, to visit the Kaaba, with his wife Mary and his son Simon, who was one at the time. He then crossed the Reed sea, to Sudan to a place called Omdurman today, to sit among the Mutassawaf at the eternal fire. He stayed there in Sudan studying, and teaching for two years. Returning again, to Jerusalem at the beginning of age thirty-three, there he was met with much love by the people, who looked for a Messiah. However, the hearts of the leaders turned against him, for fear that he may dethrone them, Because of the obvious tensions, he sent his wife Mary and his son Simon away, to live in the house of her sister and brother, Martha and Lazarus. And he would visit her from time to time, to see his family.

For those that have been convinced or fooled, the average person will laugh at the very thought of Yashua (Jesus) having a wife and child. So, lets walk through the scriptures verse by verse, so that you may obtain a vivid overstanding of how Yashua (Jesus) did indeed marry and have children. The reason why it was not specifically recorded, was because the Essenes vowed Celibacy, and it would've been a travesty to know, that one of their own had defected and ignored the Essnes traditions. Yashua (Jesus) seemed to disagree with many rituals in the scriptures, saying that they were exaggerated. The book of Revelation speaks of the marriage of the Lamb in symbolism, this is what it says: Revelation nineteen, from the seventh to the ninth verses: "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him, for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. To her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white, for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, write blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, these are the true sayings of God". They (mistranslators) prefer to identify with the New Jerusalem coming down like a bride prepared for her groom, Revelation twenty-one, the second verse: "And I Yuhanna (John) saw the holy city of new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband". It is clear that one verse is talking about an event that occurred, and the other is talking about an event to come. The law of all the Prophets: "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife". This law would apply to Yashua (Jesus) as well, one "jot" or one "tittle", cannot be removed from the Law. The Law of the Prophets came by way of Moses Before Yashua, Moses, Abraham, Noah, and Adam all married and had children, so the Law of the Prophets would apply to Yashua (Jesus) as well... to be continued... the next Bulletin; The Family Of Yashua (Jesus)... http://www.thetruthbulletin.org Peace

Not quite Michael Smith, my trend of thought rests with the traditional church view that Yashua, Jesus, Eashoa wasn't married. If concrete undenial evidence surfaces otherwise, the mystery of marriage will be revealed at that time; per Deuteronomy 29: 29.

Point of information, I do follow your logic however ...

In the Spirit of Sankofa,

... Traditionally, Christians hold the viewpoint that Jesus/Yashua/Eashoa was not married. And the above, Gospel of Phillip, is not a part of the acceptable biblical cannon; as such, it has no value in this study forum but to conflict with the traditional view of the Bible held by Christians.

The Gospel of Philip is one of the Gnostic Gospels, a text of New Testament apocrypha, dating back to around the third century but lost to modern researchers until an Egyptian peasant rediscovered it by accident, buried in a cave near Nag Hammadi, in 1945.

Peace In,
Of course it isn't part of the ACCEPTABLE CANON. Why should it be? Obviously if the YT man didn't authorize it, it don't count, does it?...Apparently not!!
