    Was It That Time?

    There was a time
    But time has passed

    Was it that time

    There was a time
When thoughts of you were all I had
    Where “Fulfilled laughter” embraced me
And “Joyful tears” caressed my soul

~ Those tender moments are all I know

    There was a time
    When the possibility of love
Was enough to propel me above
The sum of fears fear held at bay
Wouldn’t allow me to say what screamed inside

~ A gibberish side my mind could not hide

    Stifling pride clutched my chest
    Wouldn’t allow me a breath

    There was a time
    When “hello” meant “goodbye”
    And “why” was never asked
And “I love you” screamed its hatred
    At the perks afforded you

But knowing our love was true
    Allowed you to be you
    And we became one
    …Became whole
Enjoyed the fun of letting go
    Of beginning to know
    …to understand
    Love

    The meaning of love

~ Where love means the happiness of those you love

    There was a time
When you loved me…and me only
    Today finds me cold…lonely
Hoping for that which can never be

    What tomorrow will never bring

    There was a time
    When love buds blossomed
    In various shades and fragrances
    Adding to my distinctive flava
    (And) opening pathways to happiness

But that time is no more

I wake to yearnings of restfulness
    With morning’s freshness
Constantly evading the happiness that found me
    (Lost) among thistles and thorns
That (for so long) pained me

    Now, I can see

    There was a time
    But time has passed

    Was it that time?

a season for all things. as simplistic an explanation as that is, it is exactly that simplicity that allows us to understand that we are given a time...a moment to accomplish so many things. that time cannot be duplicated. when it's over, it's over. yes, you can still accomplish things...but not to the magnitude that you could during that optimum time.

    i have loved.

yes, i will love again, but it's flava will never again taste as sweet as it once did.

    has that time passed?

    hmmm.

just curious (smile)...for you love has a threshold? i think every love is extremely unique, priceless, and irreplaceable when lost or let go

no, love doesn't have a threshold...if you're talking limitations. however, there are optimum times (seasons) for everything in life. AM I BEING COLD HEARTED? of course not. for example: you can only lose your virginity once. yes, you can have many lovers to follow...and each one may be different (unique) but you can never experience losing your virginity with any of those that followed. a drug user will experience that ultimate high the first time he uses drugs. on each successive time, he tries to duplicate what he felt the first time...but never will...which is why he graduates to other, more potent things.

whether because of our innocence, or naivety, our first love consumes us. and we immerse ourselves in its wonders. once that illusion is shattered, we will search the whole world over...trying to find the essence of that first love, but we will always fail. we fail because we are no longer innocent to the pains of love...and we can never again see love through the innocent eyes of the naive--which is why we always hold a special place in our heart for our "first" love, our "first" lover, our "first" high (not meaning drugs).

is every love unique? YES. just as every lover is. and though you can lose yourself in that love, you will always be somewhat guarded in your approach to that love because of the pain you suffered in your first love. ergo, you never give yourself COMPLETELY to those loves that follow your first love. meaning, you will never love WHOLY again...to the magnitude of your first love.
