    in kindergarten
    is six years old
    lookin' in the garden
    ever so bold
    is the only one
    that is darker
    but doesn't know
    this marker
    children crowd
    askin' why
    they've grown loud
    and she cries
    doesn't know
    whats wrong
    she knows
    she's not wrong
    first day in class
    nervous of course
    kids make a task
    of acting coarse
    sits at lunch
    all alone
    gets a hunch
    she's so alone
    boy comes over
    she gets happy
    thinks he comes over
    to make her happy
    instead he asks
    with his eyes so round
    i need to ask
DID YOUR MOMMY PAINT YOU BROWN?

this actually happened to me in kindergarten....

I think it depends more on the area of the country than the parents, but I digress.

Lovely, this is incredible. I respect you for sharing this.
