Arguments in department stores
when I'm short changed
or followed for no reason
you're right there with me
screaming "no equality"
bumps in the night
you never stay locked in closets
you're behind me with a knife
as I glare through the peephole
looking for those that tiptoe
and climb in and out of windows
you're my warrior sister
lights behind me, "pull it over"
unwarranted, you're yelling endlessly
at uniformed racist
we know it's DWB
that never puts out our fire
you're the other half of me
sometimes yours burns when mine is low
that's how I know we are one
when my impatience will be my end
you're always there to take the reigns
I swear I don't exist without you
you're how I made it this far
you help me form my thoughts
and act on them
that's why you're me
and I am you
and that's why I LOVE YOU
