    big black girls who SING
    are sacrificed at the altar
    of videos
    rubenesque virgins
    spirits uplifted
    to redbone goddesses
    all sticks and weave
    inflatable breasts
    like green-eyed
    contact-lensed
    demons
    rejoicing
    at the ritual
    talentless
    collecting
    plastic
    fame

I think you know how I feel about this powerful little piece. You work well in short verse, hon.

I mean... this poem was not to disrespect our lovely light-skinned sistas, or slim women, or those with hair weave or those with breast enhancements - rather it is an attack on an entertainment industry that seems intent on portraying only ONE type of image as being THE standard of beauty.

... and darker, thicker sistas are pushed to the side.... even with supreme talent.

.... I think the quality of the music on the radio has suffered as a result.

We come in so many sizes. shapes and hues, that in my eyes we need to universalize a the beauty of the variety.

    Jus my lil two cents....

Thanks for your eyes and time!

    Andrew
