There are adages and songs galore which speak to a moral
And we've all still tried to test their validity and question the quarrel
Like, "Everybody Plays The Fool, Somestimes."
And, "Get me once, shame on you. Get me twice, shame on me."
But, sadly, for many, only in hindsight can they understand them and agree.

Now, we've all, in some fashion, been used, betrayed, and misled
And, hopefully, the lessons taught made us more careful where we'll tread

But, there is a distinct difference between
Being a "VICTIM"
And being a "VOLUNTEER."
Some of us, misguidedly, think
That we can, somehow, steer
Our wayward mate onto a more favorable course
While some stay in waaay too long
Hoping that things will surely change
If they'd just persevere

So, speaking as a woman, I can't have a whole lot of compassion
When another female will so obtusely accept whatever ration
Her mate metes out
And in the end
Still wondering where
She chose the wrong route
Even, after initially leaving, returning for even more emotional bruises
But, all that serves to say is that he can do...... whatever he chooses

Now, it matters not how his smile and attentions
May make you giddy and, downright, glisten
For, I've heard it said
"That when a man SHOWS you who he is, you betta listen."

Dissent…is the word I’m missing
When choosing why women say we don’t listen
Yet, hoping she “glistens” at the thought of me
You say I’m “wrong” but open your eyes…you’ll see
Each step I’ve taken has me par for the course
I’m not the “ford fiesta” you’re use to
I’m the rolls Royce
But I’M HUMAN
I’ve made mistakes along my way
As a young man I was prone to slip…and play
Not saying it’s right…those things I’ve done
‘twas just a young man out having some fun
Not trying to hurt the woman I love
Abuse. Misuse. none of the things you spoke of
So when you say I’ve shown myself…and she’d betta listen
Are you referring to mistakes I’ve made when just a young kitten?

Don't get your knickers in a bunch. it's been some time since i've flowed with you...i couldn't help myself.:)

YES...men and women have to pay attention to what our mates are saying to us. generally, they will tell us everything we need to know...we just have to listen.

Indeed, Bro. Baller. But more of our Sisters need to learn how to discern what is truly POTENTIAL in a man and what he shows in his CHARACTER.

We're all HUMAN.

But when it comes to a no-good man (or a no-good woman)..If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, then I'll betcha a dolla to a box of Kripsy Kremes, that it's a DUCK.
