I think I heard of someone saying they use a cheese that isn't made with milk...So I'm wondering does this cheese still taste like cheese?

Has anyone else heard of this before?

I get the sliced "cheese" from the produce section in the grocery store. They have a few different varieties. It tastes ok,definitely not the same, but it works. :)
