Validation... of my life’s situations
seem so farfetched
As i stand extended,
arms outstretched
Reaching for other’s standards and expectations
Of who i should be…
Whether it’s mama,
daddy,
sistah,
brotha,
lover,
otha…
Can’t take on their stuff
And spend the rest of my life carrying such a load

Within me, i am told lies my validity
Though, i’ve never looked before
i must look now
To shed misconceptions,
inadequacies
& falsehood…

i choose this road to myself
Freeing my being from anything
That keeps me from being me…

peace
