    Used To Be

Used to be we loved and lived on borrowed time
Now we just be hangin’ on to a borrowed dime
Used to be we’d go driving in our mean machine
Now we cant afford the fees or the gasoline
Used to be we’d eat out three-four times a week
Now me and the chef dont hardly even speak
Used to get by with a grant and student loan
Now we graduate with a mortgage like a home
Used to be we aimed for a lifelong career
Now we’re hoping for a job by the end of the year
Used to be a time we were creating styles
Now we’re trying to cash in frequent flyer miles
Used to be a time we had unlimited credit
Now you try to AMEX, they’ll take your card and shred it
Used to be we looked forward to vacations
Now we’re dodging road rage, people lost their patience
Used to be we had some pride and even some ambition
Now it seems we lost the pride and we got off our mission
Used to be organized and we had unity
Now children are killing children in our community
Used to be we were livin large and could afford to eat
Now we wonder for some bread, wishing for some meat
Used to be we wanted peace and safe and happy homes
Now we text each other on our fancy telephones
Used to be we cared about life and Mother Earth
Now we’ve lost the feeling for the sanctity of birth
Used to be we knew the reasons and the purpose for our life
Now we struggle to survive in a battlefield of strife
Used to be we had a balance and lived a thousand years
Now we’ll build an army from the ocean of our tears.

    Feeling this piece very strongly.

Sad but true. Oh how rapidly things have changed!! And if one isn't strong enough the system can bring us down into the depths of despair.

    Thanks for sharing Bro OldSoul

Yeah, I remember the days when we loved on borrowed time,
but that same love today has turned into crime.

Use to be the good old days of us dining out,
Is now only something we dream about.

Jobs use to be found like a drop in the bucket,
now we search long and hard, then finally say f___ it.

Use to bury our Greats, our Grands...down to our moms,
but now our 'Babies' are dodging ...those nuclear bombs.

Man, ain't that the truth!! Seems like we're living in real scary times. Almost makes me feel like I don't belong in this world the way it is. But, hey, gotta stay focused and positive...

    Peace, Love, Light...
