WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Agriculture Department has issued a public health warning about raw ground beef products after dozens of people in the Northeast became ill with salmonella infections, a spokesman said on Friday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating a salmonella outbreak of at least 37 cases in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.

Health officials said many of the people who became ill reported eating ground beef, and some ate the meat raw.

How can Black people - who represent 50% or more of the people who patronize McDonald's, Wende's and BurgerKing - be guaranteed that the beef they eat in these establishments is safe to eat? :maddd:

I wonder if they're serving beef dishes at the White House these days, especially since Bush is a Texan. For those serious beef eaters that have to have meat with every meal, this must be a scarey time. I have friends like this who crave beef and still order it from a menu or buy it anyway. They refer to it as a plate of "mad cow" or "mad cow burger." Scarey stuff. Is this a time when we should be educating our children too? Thanks to Burger King, McDonald's and Arby's, many of our kids are heavy beef eaters. They serve it in school cafeterias and many times our kids go to these restaurants without parents knowing it. Maybe there's not much parents can do to stop this but should we be handling this the same as we do with warning our kids about drugs and unprotected sex?

^5...Aqil, we were posting at the same time and address the same issues about these food franchises that our children patronize. Excellent point!

    Peace :spinstar:

^5 NNQueen...I offer the following for starters:

Human actions are governed by man’s mental condition, and man’s mental condition is strongly influenced by the food that he eats. Eating and drinking are the primary needs of man, and it is the first duty of a religion to guide him in this respect...
