U.S. hospital says Sierra Leone doctor with Ebola extremely critical

OMAHA Neb. (Reuters) - A surgeon from Sierra Leone being treated for Ebola in a Nebraska hospital on Saturday was critically ill after being airlifted back from Africa, medical officials said.

Dr. Martin Salia, 44, a permanent U.S. resident, caught the disease while working as a surgeon in a Freetown hospital, according to his family.

Doctors at the Nebraska hospital said his condition was extremely critical. He had been stable enough to take a flight from West Africa to Omaha but was too sick to walk off the plane, medical officials said.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — When Dr. Martin Salia arrived in Omaha from Sierra Leone, he became the 10th person with Ebola to receive treatment in the U.S.

The 44-year-old surgeon traveled Saturday to the Nebraska Medical Center. Salia is a Sierra Leone citizen who lives in Maryland.

That's a tough question butterfly#1, its one to be researched, deeply, and has me puzzled. When I do the work and find the explanation for charging him, I'll definitely be posting it back to the Thread ...

Keep in mind, Nancy Writebol, and Dr. Kent Brantly are citizens like Dr. Salia, but under what different set of circumstances did they all serve under, is the question.

Also, were Writebol and Brantly charged without our knowing it? It seems to me, someone needs to explain why Dr. Salia is being charged ... If you run across anything on this, by all means, post it back ...

Family of first U.S. Ebola victim and hospital reach settlement

DALLAS -- Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas has reached an agreement with the family of Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan, who died in October at the medical facility, CBS Dallas reports.

U.S. Ebola death exposes flaws in healthcare system

The agreement comes after allegations of wrong-doing, protocols not being followed, and claims that the hospital did not do enough to protect the patient. It has been just over one month since the 42-year-old man from Africa lost his fight with Ebola.

This is such good news. I'm so sorry that Mr. Duncan died, but is death made the world see the mistreatment of Blacks in America. How our care in medical facilities is not up to par. We never know if our care is the norm.
