    Under sharp sunshine rays
    Shattering senses
    Life relentless
    Invades cloud covered cities
    Blinding eyes
    Tapping into canals of cerebrals
    Feeble
    Against the darkness
That hangs over the concrete metropolis
    Of their hopelessness
    Narrative of life
    Shedding light
    On these pictures
    People, places, politics
    That gets shoved back
    For ********
    On your 6 o’clock and 10 o’clock news
Cause ‘SOCIETY” don’t wanna feel no black blues
Baby momma and Baby daddy beget
    New life
    She be pretty brown child
    With eyes sweet and mild
Yet as pretty brown child grows
    She steps into them throes
    Of street life
    Cause despite that surface mild
Child got a streak for a mile
    Wild
She developin’ those tits and sweet ****
    To fall into pits
    Of thug playas game
    Lay her young without shame
Cause after all he be “Tha Man”
And pleasin self is first command
    Right?
Until now when she beget new life
But playa wanted free ***, not a wife
So now child turned bitter baby momma
    Gotta contend with the drama
Of raisin’ a son into a man
    Without the firm hand
    Of a real one
Cause baby daddy deny his son
    And the beat goes on
    Like the street go on
    Just one more scene
    In the everyday tarnished gleam
    Of motion picture America
    Act two
It’s that brother that be down on his luck
    He stuck
    Frustrated
    That he been created
    A little lower than angels
But those broad stripes and bright stars spangled
    Got his mind mangled
    Thinkin’ he lower than
The one he deem “White Man”
    Won’t simply say “I can”
    And try to stand
    Open them hands
    For blessings
    Instead he rattles his brain
    With stressing
    Deprivation
    Starvation
    Temptation
    Internalized
    Dark vibes
    Recanting the truth
    Hidden from his youth
That he is the king of this Earth
    His worth
    Not defined
By the size of lower head
But the vastness of upper mind
    He embodies creativity
His own existence is God’s testament to artistry
    If only he could see
    His own destiny
But he bow his head in hurt
    Pride lower than the dirt
    From which he came
Shouldering that burden of guilt and shame
    Forgot his name
But to the unobservant eye he just the same
    As all us ******
    Don’t it figure?
    Cloud cover high now
As them hard eyed kids getting’ high now
    Seem like Malcolm and Martin
    Might have wasted their time
The way these children diminish their shine
    With all this rebellion
    Street bangin hellions
Too smart to stay in school
    Yet still a fool
    Blazin away days
    Through a cannabis haze
Liquor effects got they eyes blurry
But they in such a hurry
    To be grown
    Be on they own
    Not knowin somebody been prayin
    Ancestors was pavin’
The way for them through blood, sweats, and tears
    For years
So they wouldn’t have to be livin’ so
But no matter how high they mentality is low
    Minds shackled in deception
    Blocking out reception
    To truth
    They despise their youth
You only get one chance son
You only get one chance baby girl
But you don’t wanna listen to someone who knows
    Who done walked them roads
Done lived the life you tryin’ to achieve
    But you best believe
    That you blessed
If you ain’t gotta look back in regret
Before this life is over you gone learn
Before this life is over you gone burn
    From these things I’m sayin
    While you was playin
    At being an adult
    Guess you seen the result
    Of transgression
    Cause experience is the lesson
That determines whether you can be saved
Or destined for an early grave
    Narrative of life
    Shedding light
    On these pictures
    People, places, politics
    That gets shoved back
    For ********
    On your 6 o’clock and 10 o’clock news
Cause ‘SOCIETY” don’t wanna feel no black blues
You can create a fantasy on your imagination’s tapestry
But these urban portraits are reality…

i am lovin' your style, chile! :)
you are consistently talented. no doubt!

& when i read this i kept hearing that line from
outkast "forever never seems that long until
you grown" & i felt just fine about being the one
always telling the little ones around me to slow
down & not to be in such a frenzy to be all grown
up. (even though they say ms elayne always
fussin'! hahaha) thank you for sharing your words.

    alwayspeace,
    elayne.

Your words are so powerful, continue to share your blessings. Wisdom the key to life. This is excellent.
