    Who stole the innocence?
    Well that’s the oldest standing
    unsolved crime. Not because we
have no suspects, but rather it’s unsolved because
it’s been happening since the beginning of time
times when... eve tasted the forbidden fruit
between the leaves of the enlightenment tree
The nectar of knowledge gave her a sense of
Wisdom and vision, opening her eyes,
She began to see... Becoming fully aware
of the sinful stare of those reveling in her physical beauty,
Although Adam didn’t mind glaring, the brunt of
the blame he wasn’t sharing, so she…
was judged much more harshly than he
and these…mixed signals of possessing something
that gives so much pleasure and so much joy,
but yet being held to fault for attracting
the unsolicited attention of every adolescent boy
is handed down generation after generation to
innocent young women, women who continue
to have their innocence taken away
by those who have the physical strength
to assert their will, not knowing that
    she moans because it hurts
and she wishes he’d just kill… then
    maybe.. it would…. Stop
Why can’t anyone hear the silent screams
that she painfully refers to as
    the sound of shattered dreams?
Her fear of night makes her dread
the end of daylight and the
    impending doom, whether it’s daddy
slipping into her room, or calling her
to his bed, maybe it’s that favorite uncle
you know.. the one who stares a little too hard
when she plays in the yard, or that young teacher
    giving his take on sex-ed
whatever the case, the sad expression on her face
tells a story of a broken soul,
whose beautiful shell now lays cold
sad but true…death was the replacement
    for the innocence HE stole.

I hope this piece doesn't open any wounds. But I have an anniversary to aknowledge. I love and miss you. Your spirit lives through all who struggle to cope with abuse. (R.I.P.)
