I wanted to get some opinions people so let me know if you're feeling this one.

    My children sit
    in classrooms rambunctious;
    not realizing the socializations
that are being sent to their senses.
    The same tactis that
    were used on us,
    are being passed down.
    For 18 years we drowned
    in depths of depression
    realizing the lessons of being--
    Black, Females, and Males--Roles.
    so my children sit

    Little girls are raised to
    play.
    With dolls, being told to
    protect their draws because,
    between their legs
holds the key. Mentality being raised
    to submit and be subordinate,
    to their man.
For if they lose that key
    they will be labeled immediately
    a whore.
    But behind closed doors
    they got on their knees
    sucking the life force
    from their mate.
    This was the lesson learned
    of being a female.
    So this story they tell
    to their so-called best friend;
    however, envy and jealousy leads
    them to the end because
insecurities in relationships with each other
pits one sister against the other.
She was DEPENDENT on her mother
who learned wrong ways and passed
    the **** down like
    soiled covers.
    so my little Lady-Child sits.

    Little boys are socialized
    to see themselves as providers.
    This was the divider provided
by religious rulers, making the world
    witness this, as truth.
    Now boots are laced, hunting
    becomes the way of life
    because nourishment is a necessity.
    Chained to compete, socialized
    to be strong, not weak;
pump that iron, because one day
you may be in them streets.
Play with balls because the earth is round,
    hold your balls, realizing
    the power of 360 degrees.
He is raised to get that cheeze
    by any means
    raise his family and create
    some dreams
because he, will soon be a man.
    so my little man-child sits.

I need some honest feed-back here people...am I on the right track or should I start over...come on men and women we were all once (and some of us still are) little boys and girls.

I'm the type that usually hesitates about giving feedback. What I'd like to know is, what would YOU like to convey with this piece? What I am getting from this, so far, is that both boys and girls are raised to be clones in a way. And that the effects of that style of being brought up, is especially harsh for girls...Not sure if this is what you were looking for, but that's my take on this.

I like and appreciate that take. I'm currently in this non-profit program to help "under-resourced" youth. And the more I work with them the more I think about how both men and women, boys and girls are socialized and raised to be this specific gender related role set up by society's rules. And you're very much true about it being especially harsh for girls. So I thank you for your comment, it is well on point. But I still want others to comment and let me know where these words are leading you.

Sounds like you have an interesting and rewarding position. Glad to know I wasn't way off base. Looking forward to what others have to say.

Simply because...History, repeats ifself over and over and over again and we will continue to see them ....unless we make a change. I think this piece was/is very good. your flow is tight... :welldone:

The content here is very special indeed. Words, like children, require our devotion and attention to detail.
