Black Poetry : Understanding a Man!

Understanding a man, is not so easy.
Sometimes it makes me down right queasy.
But, since I pledged to be your wife, I guess
I am stuck with you for life.
Sometimes this journey seems unending.
Your fickle plans I am always defending.
Next month, next year when we are ready.
Plans for our wedding have me shaky and
unsteady.
Trying to hold it together while you finish your
master plan.
Wishing you were here everyday to hold me by
the hand.
I am strong you say, and so you go about your
way. Not knowing and seeming not to care.
What is really going on up in there.
Called you up the other night, not to argue or
to fight, to talk and commeserate, even though the
hour was getting late.
Your voice sounds tense and filled with apprehension.
And by the way did I forget to mention..." My back is
killing me, two disc have now exploded..." My statement
you say is to make you feel guilty!
Boy was that statement loaded...
Where the hell did that come from
Is it cause you are not getting some?
We resolved that issue long ago, you are a preacher
that I know...Loving you ain't easy my brother...but
I do! Understanding you is a battle...but I got my
sword and my shield. I promise never to yield.
Always to give you the benefit of the doubt.
And even when I can't quite figure it out.
Plans made then unmade...Time to save and money
to be made. I am working like a Hebrew slave.
You in school and it's your choice still you rant and
rave. Not enough this and not enought that....
Hold on brother, don't make me give you your hat.
Trouble in paradise. Oh hell yeah!
I really didn't even want to go there.
But, now that you mention it...as I go into this
Menopausal fit! What did I do to deserve this ****!
Not words befitting of a future Preacher's wife.
I have to remind you , it's still my life.
Decisions made alone , leave you alone.
Decisions made together, makes everything better.
I don't always understand you, but I love you any
way. And I know that you struggle each and every
day. Life for you is not easy, no doubt in my mind.
But, don't forget that I never left you behind.
You are always, but always in the forefront of my mind.
I want you to talk, about what you are feeling.
Instead of that double speak that leaves my mind reeling.
So , I end with pleasant words and say I will attribute it
to stress, and tell you "Baby it's alright, just do your best!"
Understanding a man, is hard without a doubt.
But, loving a man, well at least this one...I can't do without!

mslusciousb-Hope you two do get it sorted out. I like this piece, it is so true, men have that way of double speak, we woman just want to know what can we do? But if they don't know or can't tell then well.........?

It's all good. We know each other so well at this point (30 years).
That I know even when we are in disharmony...God is still in the midst...working it out in our souls and our hearts...it's all apart of this LOVE THANG!

surely in da eyes of he forth da love comes to a understanding
there will da ups & downs but best of all he's always round
men understanding is not so hard as to pleasing a woman!
but da luv all da same if both living in his name ......
