the near north
Raindrops
Trickled off the roof top
(relaxing)

I sat
Staring out the window
‘til she walked in
five feet eleven
and luscious as
HELL YEAL
I was taken aback
By the sound of her voice

“I’m into digital photography.”

The movement of her hips
Held me captivated
…her lips
Left me salivating

“My work is very unique
that’s what my clients like about it.”

I thought about all the things I could like
About a Chicago-bred hottie
Who couldn’t see just how beautiful she was

“I do weddings, graduations,
family reunions, and thangs.”

She continued
But I didn’t hear what she said
…too distracted, was I
by the sway of her head
her piercing eyes
touched cords inside me
triggering unexpected reactions
I didn’t see (coming)

Are you married…involved
…in love with another?
Are you happy with that brutha?

This Alicia Keys look-alike
Was ravishing, indeed
Making a brutha wanna fall to his knees
(and beg)

I wanted to touch her
To make sure she was real
A baby-faced grandmother
With sex-appeal

As dem raindrops
Kept trickling
Off the roof top

I sat there
Listening to the drip-drop of lust
Going knock…knock…knock
Upon my…

Hmmm

I couldn’t stop
