In times like these it's hard to believe That we're in the situation that we're in. Brothers are content with smiling a gold and diamond studded grin. Little sisters out in public saying words that they shouldn't use, Little brothers getting jumped because they wear the wrong brand of shoes. They treat our elders with no type of respect, Being a community is an outdated concept. Our children look up to the local pusher & think that's the life they want to lead, Kids killing kids in schools because they want to see somebody bleed. Little girls just reaching puberty are wearing tight revealing clothes, Getting approached by grown *** men 20-30 years old. We leave our children by themselves for hours, staring at the t.v. screen, Bombarding their impressionable minds with sexual & violent scenes. Children look for an adult to give them the guidance they need, But all the adults around them dress & act like they, themselves, are teens. Our little brothers & sisters don't want to go to school, when schooling was once denied, Is that the reason why all our predecessors marched, fought, & died? There once was a time when we were a united people, fighting for a common cause, Now we're a people out for self who pay too much attention to other people's flaws. It's time to get back to the way that we were before the white man tried to conquer us, Brothers & sisters it's time to smell the proverbial smelling salts And regain our Black Consciousness. United we shall stand, Divided we shall fall. Harambee! Unite!!
