MPD Investigation Complete in Shooting Death of Sammie Davis, Jr.

According to City of Macon's Public Information Officer Chris Floore, the investigation division of the Macon Police Department has now substantially completed its investigation into the December 21 shooting death of Sammie Davis, Jr.
Davis was shot and killed by officer Clayton Sutton in the parking lot of Kroger on Pio Nono Avenue. Inconsistencies in police reports have drawn public scrutiny and prompted a visit of Macon Mayor Robert Reichert to the Davis family.
In a release to WGXA, Reichert explains his reason for the visit, saying quote.
"As mayor, I felt it my duty to visit with Mr. Davis' family and to assure them - and the community - that an appropriate investigation would be conducted."
According to Chris Floore ,the file's has been delivered to the district attorney's office for their review and determination of whether any criminal conduct was involved. additional information, such as toxicology and forensic reports, are still pending and will be turned over for their review upon receipt.
The case has also drawn the attention of the NAACP, who says they will conduct their own investigation into the matter...
