Twinkies maker Hostess plans to go out of business

(Reuters) - Hostess Brands Inc, the bankrupt maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread, has sought a U.S. court's permission to go out of business after failing to get wage and benefit cuts from thousands of its striking bakery workers.
Hostess, which has about $2.5 billion in sales from a long list of snack cakes and breads, filed the request with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York early Friday morning.
The Irving, Texas-based company said the liquidation would mean that most of its 18,500 employees would lose their jobs.

Once I was introduced to a Twinkie Cake. I thought it would be made from scratch. It was prepared by combining a bunch of Twinkies, WoW!

    Peace In,

While in jr. high & h.s. i thought my day wasn't complete unless i had a twinkie or cinnamon bun....Fortunately, when i stopped eating pork, i had to give up both and happily!

Hopefully, the black employees will get some type of package once the bankruptcy court takes over that can hold them over until they find something else......

I can already see some of ya'll asking 'what about the white employees'?. My answer is: "what about 'em?"

Also, it would probably be a good thing to warn your kids and others against buying any of their products in the stores because if they've been striking like this, it means there have been little to no 'fresh' deliveries taken place. So, just about every product/snacks of theirs on the shelves is probably outdated....

For some reason, i see Kraft Foods in the corner drooling and thinking about making a bid to buy Hostess out and making everybody happy by keeping the factories open, most employees working and placing the Kraft logo on all of the new packaging of used to be Hostess products..

What happens if Twinkies really do go away?

Let's not panic. We all know that Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Wonder bread and the rest of Hostess Brands' oddly everlasting foods aren't going away any time soon, even if the food culture that created them is gasping its last.
Yes, Hostess is shutting down. And odds seem to favor the roughly century-old company disappearing from our corporate landscape. But before you rush out to stockpile a strategic Twinkie reserve, consider a few things. Namely, that Twinkies never die. You know full well that the snack cakes down at your corner 7-Eleven are going to outlive us all. Probably even after they've been consumed.
