What if there wasn't a thing such as politically correct?
What if people weren't so sensitive, and excepted someones opinion, for what is ? Do you think you would be any different if you were told the truth your whole life? I have a lot of friends who say "I'm very blunt & because of that they don't keep a lot of friends for very long. Why don't people want to hear the truth, why is it the cliche thing to tell someone they look nice, when you really hate their dress?

Because there's such a thing as compassion.
A while back when my first child was 4, I let him dress himself to go out. To make a long story short, he looked like a clown at a dysfunctional circus. Did I tell him that? No. I instead told him that he looked nice, but that maybe 'this shirt & this pants" would be better. In other words, I spared his feelings because I knew he wasn't able to understand criticism yet.
The same goes for adults as well. Just because they are grown doesn't mean they can take the truth all at once. Sometimes, you have to give it to them one dose at a time.
Truth is a powerful thing. Just use it wisely.

You shouldn't.

truth...

we all have ego's that's why,the hardest pill to swallow is the truth, for the most part we all want to be accepted in society whether we want to admit it or not and we don't like hearing anything negative said even if we deserve it,like the hand in the cookie jar we cringe inside and want to just go away and be alone for awhile or smack somebody[smile]but it takes all the self control we can muster to actually stand there and take that truth because that ego just won't deal with it.

You should establish here the difference between the truth and opinion. And also between Objectivity and Subjectivity.

Then ask the question why do you really hate the dress.
