I wont go into the whole terrible history of the subject, as it is too long and painful and unnecessary... Those of you who know the details of that history know what I'm talking about, and those who do not, it would not pay to half step in the telling of the history, the facts of which I do not pretend to know thoroughly...

But this I understand, and that is I, and 200-million plus Africans are here in this hemisphere due in part to the Tribal rivalries of our ancestors... It is true that were we a united people even then, the ancestors would have had the manpower to hold off any conquerors, but it seems Africans have never learned this lesson; to stand together in solidarity against our enemies, regardless of our rivalries... It has cost us dearly, and will continue to cost us until the lesson is finally learned... Problem is, Africans are in deep denial about the problem, and so too are we, as African Diasporans...

What prompts me to write this post is not, ironically, the political and tribal conflicts that beseige the Motherland as we speak... It is the overwhelming economic emergence of China, which like Africa, has had to endure great pain and suffering to come to grips with it's own weaknesses and strengths... China realized that she had to be flexible to deal with the modern world, and thus did the unthinkable under Communist rule, and encouraged her people to become capitalist entrepreneurs... She had the confidence that her people would reward the NATION with untold riches, as the people are the nation's greatest resources...

So, as Our Motherland languishes in poverty in the most mineral and material rich swath of real estate on the planet, I pause to study China... What can this great asian nation offer as solutions to her sister Continent, Africa. For one, Africa needs to come under CENTRALIZED Continental governance...

There are too many HNIC's in Africa, and those have tribal mentalities... By this I mean they are not concerned for the ENTIRE continent, just those of their countries, villages, towns, and tribes... There is no good reason why a continent like Africa should be poorer than a nation like China, but it is! Someone must be called to account for that, and that someone is us, pure and simple...

I know this wont be a popular sentiment, but let us forget our sentiments, and our false pride... Africa is burning, and False pride, and the refusal to be critqued even by loved ones, will burn it to the ground... African people have to decide, and decide NOW, what plans we have for our Motherland, and how we are going to implement those plans... But before we can do that, we must admit that Africa is burning, and stop pretending there are no problems in Africa, or that the White Man is the problem... BTW, We African Americans must take the very same prescription, the same medicine, and drop our pretenses as well... Brethren, how can we get such a message out to the common folk as well as those who act as our leaders???

One last note, peops, please study China... She gone have us all needing to speak mandarin or cantonese mad soon... She's no joke on the economic front...

    Peace!
    Isaiah

WE MUST SEEK TO OPEN LARGE SCALE IMPORT/EXPORT OPERATIONS IN THE U.S. WITH SATELITES IN AFRIKA AND VICE VERSA. I JUST LOOKED AT THEMAP OF AFRIKA, AS I KNEW BFORETHREARE SO MANY SPLINTER COUNTRIES.

IM SURE THE PEOPLE ARE PROUD OF THEIRS , AND THE CONTIENT IS HUGE. BUT W MUST FORM AS ONE. AT LEAST ECONOMICALLY THAT DOES NOT MEAN ONE GIVES UP THEIR TERRITORY, BUT A UNITED AFRIKAN NATIONS IS NEEDED.

HERE IN TE U.S. WE ARE BLOOD AN CRIPPING IT UP. BUT I DO SEE SOME PROGRESS. THIS MUST HAPPEN, PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE PESIMISTS AND ITS NOT POSSIBLE CROWD IF HISTORY REPEATS ITS SELF WE ARE ILL PREPARED FOR AN ALL OUT BATTLE. HOW EVER ECONOMICALLY UNIFIED THERE WILL BE NO BATTLE. EUROPEANS DONT ATTACK THOSE WHO CAN FIGHT BACK, ASK CHINA...AT THE SAME TIME CHINA IS KNEE DEEP IN AFRIKA TOO RIGHT?

Brother Therious, I think "territory" is part of the problem... It limits, again, Africans to thinking tribally instead of CONTINENTALLY... African aint no little village, but the mentality is village - my village - and that is part of the problem... African needs CENTRALIZATION, and no matter which tribe is in office, lthey must think of the entire continent...

Secondly, why must something always we BROUGHT to Africa??? Again, this is the richest continent on the Planet, and the people aren't taking advantage of their resources... They don't even seem to understand the value of those resources, else wouldn't be all Jews on 47th between 5th and 6th avenue in Manhattan... This is the diamond district of New York, and it is, perhaps, the richest piece of real estate in the United States... Since about 90% of those diamonds come from Africa, I personally believe something is wrong when one cannot find a single African owning a single store on the block!

Brother, if you've got a resource that others want, you don't let OTHERS name the price for it, you let them fight with each other for the price you have named... Ask the Arabs, who did this with their petroleum... Africa needs to put down the guns, and pick up some pads and pencils, and design a plan to maximize it's own wealth... It needs no help from America, americans, or europeans... We need, brother Therious, to take OWNERSHIP of our own problems, and OWNERSHIP of the SOLUTIONS to our problems... Beleive me, when those problems are solved, and you can take ALL the CREDIT for your uplift, you feel a lot better... I mean, do you dig it when White Folks are spielin' about how they marched in the Civil Rights Movement??? We died, and they marched in the Civil Rights Movement, our saviors marched in the Civil Rights Movement...(smile!)

    Peace!

I share your sentiments here. Unless we can be honest with ourselves as it pertains to the problems of our people, then we will literally go up in smoke

Oh how we need a plan! I think we need to study the the mentality of the causcasians as well. They have been uprooting every plan of africans since they stepped out of the caves into warm climate. We know they are a greedy people, and they speak in terms of dollar signs. That is their strongest weakness. We should have conscience Black folks who know whats really going travel the states speaking to black people, telling them how pooling our monies together for a common cause will insure us the resources that we will need to gain our rightful place in this universe. We need to contact those rappers, actors, singers, who've been reaping in the money from the support of our children. We have to first find the connection to these resources and establish the financial obligation that will be needed. The conscious people that we reach through these sermons, needs to take an oath of responsiblity to make sure that the message is being distributed throughout their city or town. We need to form allies with other nations that are threatened by the europeans greed. We need to stop worry about what everybody else has and seek to get the things that we need. But we must never turn a blind eye to anyone in the movement. Keep our friends close and our enemies closer. We need to make sure we cover every strategy that can be used to destroy our plans to move forward.

IT'S NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, WE NEED A PLAN!!

Importing/exporting, well the whites get rich of of this , and we should too. sun its a mess for sure, when it comes to control total control of these resources, can this be achieved with out a gun?

Mr. T., I feel you now, and understand... You are right and practical in saying that we need our hands in every cookie jar... Sorry for the misinterpretation, brother... I just have a lot of confidence in African people, and it sometimes gets under my skin when we appear to be asking, begging, pleading for anything... We have incredible, stupendous, unlimited talent, gifts, and resources within our own communities, but the White Man has done a job on our confidence in ourselves...

The self-esteem issue is there when we are blaming the White Man as if he is God, and we have no power to undo what this devil has done... If we, as some of our metaphysicians have told us, have a close relationship with GOD, then we sure do not act as though we do... We act as though GOD(White Man)has permanently placed us in hell, and need HIS permission to re-enter the world... In my opinion, we are then operating as a people according to the White Man's plan, and not our own... The proof of that is in our present condition as a people all over the planet Earth...

Sister Purple, Of course, I agree that we must keep our eye on the enemy, but HE must not be the locus of our focus - not in our present condition...(smile!) Believe that China has kept her eye on the enemy - plus his nuclear weapons, information technology and business trends, and that's why she has HIM going to school to learn how to speak Chinese... That's no joke, by the way.... It is a reality as we speak... Why cannot Africa and Africans do same??? Because we are either ill-prepared or totally UNPREPARED - as people without a plan and vision for their present and future usually are... Would that our leaders would stop operating on a socialist program rooted in the 1960's, and get with a more economic restoration plan for the new millenium... However, the people should not wait on our "leaders" for such a plan to be put in place... We should construct our own plan, and put the beggars and liars out of business, and out of their misery...

Again, Africa needs a Central Government making decisions for the entire continent, and it needs centralized power to keep the HNIC types in check, and in their place... If that Centralized Government is Social Democratic, that would be wonderful, but it should be about the economic and educational prosperity of the African continent... Tribes and Tribal loyalties and affiliations must come way behind the needs of the African population as a whole... Down with Tribalism should be the cry of Africans all over the world, as that would be the first step in promoting the total unity of all African peoples... True Pan Africanism!

MOST EXCELLENT POST MY ESTEEMED BRUTHA!

This is why I always say that we as black people around the world must develop a new identity and new culture if we intend or even expect to survive in the coming years.

We are too divided and jealous of one another.

One group wants to call themselves black...while anothe wants to call themselves African.

While some blacks who are pan-African want to leave the West and go to Africa; millions of black Africans are trying to abandong thier home and come West.

I too have noticed this denial on the part of many Africans.

Unlike the West where almost everything is talked about out in the open and there is little regard for family and community values for most; Africans have a strong sense of family honor and loyalty.

Remember how Mamma used to say "Whatever happens in this house...STAYS in this house!"...

That's how many Africans look at it when it comes to thier internal conflicts.

They don't like to talk about it much to outsiders because they figure we wouldn't understand and may become too judgemental.

I didn't know that hatred and semi-slavery existed in places like Somalia and Ethiopia towards the darker more thick featured Bantu tribes living there until I visted a few sites and talked to a few Somalis themselves who told me about it.

Many Somalis and Ethiopians will call you a n*gg*r and display more hatred toward you than white people, and it would blow you back at how another black person could actually hate and be racist toward you in that fashion.

This is because of that "tribal warfare" mentality that you spoke about.

They don't see themselves as part of the black race, they see themselves as part of a "tribe" or group unto themselves.

One thing about China, is that the Hans tribe is the largest and most domineering tribe in China and controls everything.

They are nearly a billion strong and all the other tribes have to lean back.

Homoginization and/or clear domination of one group over another in a particular reagion automatically breeds a certain degree of unity because you don't have so many groups fighting eachother over land, respect, wealth, and ofcourse..women.
    They automatically know the deal.

Look at Nigeria and how clear and separate many of the tribes are there in that giant African state.

You have conflict, but the conflict is minimal because every tribe knows their place and work together.

Again, we as black people need to first establish OUR OWN new identity separate from what others put on us. We are neither truly black nor are we truly African becaue both are white words.
After we develop and identity and know WHO we are, then we need to develop a new and progressive culture of our own incorporating all of the good of our former traditions...and eschewing the bad.

Brother Ralfa'il, I co-sign on most everything you said here, and then some... You are on point when you aptly described the tribal mentality... Clearly, that mentalility has led to divisive and weakening conflicts, and the European used these debilitating conflicts to enslave and colonize the African Continent...

If we aren't going to fess up to that, then we are still living in a fantasy, and Lawd Knows, brother, folk engaging in fantasy at this late date, truly don't know what time it is... These are very serious times for those who didn't know better, and out reliance on the fantastic, on miracles, shows we are just embarrassingly unprepared to fulfill our space and time on this planet...

Funny thing about the universe, about nature, is that THAT which has become obselete, and no longer fulfills it's earthly or universal purpose, the UNIVERSE moves on it to make it disappear... Black Folks, the universe is calling us home... What are we gonna do about it??? Are we going to fulfill our space in time, or become as the modern-day Dinosaurs???

    Peace!

This conversation is so beautiful and real. Notice the people who are talking about it are people from amerikkka, people like Isaiah and yourself, who have the time and space to talk about what needs to be done and more importantly, can do something about it through education.

If the Somalis and Ethopians and the Eritreans could attend forums or read literature in their language on the detriment of being seperate and the benefits of uniting, perhaps we could get them to see the big picture.

The Big Picture is that most Africans don't involve themselves politically or know what is going on in Africa. For example, I brought my African dance teacher to "Hotel Rawanda". She was shocked that the genocide even occurred. She doesn't know what is going in her own backyard.

We have the unique position of being on the outside looking in. Looking at Africa as a continent. We, who live in a united states, see that we must have an United States of Africa to survive as African people.

The African Union is a good start, and a beginning http//:www.african-union.org/ . If you read some of the papers presented at the conferences, one can see the great minds both of the continent and of the diaspora. They have a realistic vision for Africa.

I know that, most Africans from everywhere, I speak for them, (because I am one), want freedom, justice, equality, self-determination, peace, and prosperity.

Had the Hutus and the Tutsis known the effects of colonization, that the Belgians played a major role in their self hate. Had they known, that they live on top of a gold mine, that europe and amerikkka hates them and wants them to kill their own people so that they could slide in a steal their resources, that France provided the weapons, that by killing Tutsis the whole Black continent would suffer dearly.

Had they known that they were part of a big continent, not just their own little deprived world, that differences could have been resolved, that whatever their demands were, Africans would help them resolve them. Had they known that Africa was a great and united continent until the parasitic devils came out of their caves into their mostly peaceful world on the path of destruction.

It is up to all of us who know about the beauty, the history, the greatness of Africa to educate, educate, educate the masses of how it must unite or we will all parish as people.

It is easy to compare us to China, but the truth be told, just like we Africans of amerikkka didn't come here on the Nina and the Pinta like other immigrants, I don't believe we can compare Africa to China, with all due respect.

Although China has many ethnicities, it was not pounced on by many europeans countries and amerikkka, if I am not mistaken only England and Japan played a major role in trying to dismantle China. One leader Mao Sing Tung, cleaned that up in a hurry. I may not have all of my facts straight, but I think I am close. France tried to rape Vietnam, but we all know what happened there. The Vietnamese kicked their behinds, like they did amerikkka.

Comparing China to Africa is like comparing apples and oranges in this sense.

Anyway, Africa is a mess and we as Africans from everywhere have to help to clean it up.

    That should be our mission.
And we have our work mapped out for us. Let get going!
