so much pain in this life, dark cloud
but I keep my aim to the light, my dark shroud
prayers like flares illuminating spiritual stairs
send me and usher, in this darkness I can't see clear
shoes beginning to wear, but I like my feet close to the earth
reminds me I'm mortal and of the day my birth
death coming all but to soon, my trusted companion not the bringer of doom
garb changer, assistant to my next act
made an agreement before I was here, he sees to it I stick to the pact
run with the wolf pack across the back of he who wields the hammer black
strike iron hot forging a destiny, cool dipped in the waters of seven seas
heavenly not so far away, as it shall be done on earth like my crist-sands say
two finger pusher of sands, old black ageless hands
and -I am that I say that I am- him I shall meet if in the center of the tray I stand

This could make a great story. It had a mythical feel to it. I could see the persona of the poem dwelling in a Yoruba (epic) myth broadly speaking making a transition from body to spirit waiting for divine unification? Well .. hope I'm close with this rough interpretation :). But what a phenomenal poem!
