How many people on this site have actually been to Africa ( I'm guilty myself )? Or are there any Africans here ( Welcome )? Now in my mind, one of the crucial steps in raising our Black consciousness is knowing our history and relating with our common people in our common land.

I have my eye on Ghana and Kenya right now. But I have friends from Nigeria and Uganda that say we should go visit sometime. I'm trying to make that sooner than later.

    Any travel tips are welcome.

Oh amazing!!! Kenya and Ghana are supposed to be amazing places with legendary hospitality. Check this out. I was travelling in London last year and had a load of bags to lug up some stairs in the train station. This Nigerian offers to help take my heaviest bag up the stairs then insists that he help me with it to my hostel. I can't wait to go because I experience nothingbut brotherhood from Africans.

I plan on it before i leave this planet. The Afrikans I meet in the state are the coolest. My kenyan friends invited me to the anual Kenyan Party in Atlanta never was able to make it.. My Mom has been to Ghana said the peole were the most hospital and loving people.

Thanks so much for all your responses. It means a lot to me because my next major project is to trace my African ancestry. This will involve a trip to the continent. I bought and read a novel that recites the story/ancestry of Paul Crooks, a British Jamaican. The book gives a lot of facts and clues about how to trace down your ancestry if you are Jamaican. Including where to look search in British and Jamaican colonial records. Manasiac, maybe it can help you guys out or give you some ideas of how to track down your roots:

Fanyamambo, thanks very much for the invite. Where in Kenya do you live?
