    Got up this morning
    Washed my face
    Did all the necessities
    of life

    And started feeling

    Well…

    V~A~I~N

    Churning water cascaded
    down pipes like tears
    rolling down cheeks

    Somehow I still felt

    Completely…

    M~I~S~G~U~I~D~E~D

    Went to the closet
    looked in at the
    miles of fabric that
    would adorn my body

On this day I was to
    present myself to the
    corporate world

    Then I felt

    Utterly…

    D~I~S~G~U~S~T~E~D

    Grabbed my jewelry from
    the dresser; gold watch,
    platinum rings; serpentine
    bracelet

    All the while feeling

    Shamefully…

    R~E~M~O~R~S~E~F~U~L

    of myself

    30something brotha

    successful entrepreneur

    richer than rich

    but still missing something…

Token felt ~ puppet on a

    S
    T
    R
    I
    N
    G

    Company man-made…

    Mind not my own

    Drive to the firm in
    my Yuppie car

    Its’ make reads

    like a headline

    B~L~A~C~K

    M~A~D~E

    W~H~I~T~E

    Corner office with a

    VIEW

    Transformation

    Of

    Ambitions

    Jokes at the water cooler

told by Todd, Biff, and Sue

    My presence commands

    SiLeNcE…

    Shhh – here he comes

    Now there’s a feeling of

    P~A~I~N

    10 hours of torture

    The day finally ends

    Now back to the suburbs

    Condo property

    The

    Only

    Spot (Get It?)

    Closed doors shut
    in front and behind

    Back to my own

    L~I~V~I~N~G

    private

    H~E~L~L!

    The 24 hour cycle
    spins on and on
    and on and on…….

    Maybe one day
    beautiful blackness

    will

    return

    to

    my

    face…

All I can say is ****! As painful as it is to admit it's a reality for many blacks (men and women).

    Tight scribe!!!

    feeling this one, Q

    gotta be hard being you.:)

my brutha...never feel guilty over your success unless you swing to the other side and forget where you came from and who you are.

bruthaz and sistahz work hard to climb that corporate ladder...to make it easier for that next sistah or brutha that will follow them. be proud of every step...every closed door...every hollow stare, knowing that you're paving the way for the multitude.

    NO...

    World

    make it so.

    peace.

I feel ya Baller. Fortunately this is a work of fiction that depicts those BMW brothas that are no doubt wayward and lost!!!

Maybe in reading this piece, it'll help them come home where there is peace.

    Gratitude for the read brotha!!!
    Peace
