I prefer MC Lyte's "10% Dis" and the original "La Di Da Di" by Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick.

For me, rappers who bite offa older songs to help their beats don't get as much props as those who are truly original.

And, "Fight The Power" is another one that owes much of its popularity to the Isley Brothers.

Thanks for the imput I was going to put both Doug E and Snoop together.

Fight the power" I haven't seen a rap group get people off the street and march to a song. They were bad.ometimes

Sometimes a person can upstart the original better than the original artist. For example "wishing on a star" beyonce surpassed Roll Royce

    Anybody else got suggestions?

wow!.....Well, that's a matter of personal opinion on Beyonce.

And as for "upstarting" the original, rarely have I seen that....I've seen some good "re-dos" but never better than the original.

But, I'm "Old Skool." So, my personal tastes run to the originals or at least the most well-known versions.

    I'm old school too

    paper thin has 10% beat

Its rare but an original song can be made better by another person. Its a 1 and million shot.

Yes, he did "SAMPLE" the keyboard riff.

But, then, so did Ice Cube....

"Sampling," IMO, is not the same as an almost complete re-mixing of another song.
