    BLACKER THAN MIDNIGHT
    BLACKER THAN CHAR
BLACKER THAN A ROOF TOP COVERED IN TAR
    BLACKER THAN COAL
    BLACKER THAN INK
BLACKER THAN THE HURT OTHERS SPEAK OR THINK

PEOPLE DON'T MIND BEING BLACK WHEN IT REFER TO THIER RACE
BUT NO ONE WANTS TO LIVE WITH THE COLOR BLACK, AS THE SKIN TONE OF THEIR FACE
BEING TOO BLACK, EVEN IN YOUR OWN RACE, CAN MAKE YOU FEEL GULITY, PITY,
    DISGRACE AND DISPLACE

BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL, MOST PEOPLE SAY
AS LONG AS THEY CAN SEE A REFLECTION OF THEMSELVES NIGHT & DAY

IN THE SUMMER, PEOPLE TALK ABOUT GETTING BLACK, THEN TURN AROUND AND STARE AT ME
THINKING OR SAYING PLAYFULLY, AT LEAST I’M NOT AS BLACK AS SHE

YOU TRY TO TURN AWAY,THOUGH EVERYONE IS LOOKING AT YOU
LAUGHING AND EXPECTING YOU TO LAUGH WITH THEM TOO

BECAUSE WHEN YOU ARE BLACKER THAN MIDNIGHT
    BLACKER THAN CHAR
    &
BLACKER THAN A ROOF TOP COVERED IN TAR

WHEN YOU ARE BLACKER THAN COAL
    BLACKER THAN INK
DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE TO BLACK, TO FEEL OR THINK

PEOPLE CLAIM THAT BLACK DOESN’T REFLECT LIGHT
SHOULD I BE GRATEFUL, FOR BRIGHT EYES & TEETH SO WHITE
WHEN IT SEEMS, THAT ‘S ALL THEY SEE OF ME, WHEN I'M IN THEIR SIGHT

HOW CAN YOUR OWN PEOPLE MAKE YOU FEEL ASHAMED OF YOUR OWN SKIN
IF THOUGH I HAD A CHOICE, TO CHOOSE THE SKIN THAT I’M IN

    WHAT IS BEING TOO BLACK?
I CAN STILL SEE MY LIP, I CAN STILL SEE MY FACE
I CAN STILL SEE THE DARKNESS, THAT LAST TO BE EMBRACED

I CAN STILL SEE THE NEGATIVITY, IN PEOPLE EYES
BUT AM I TO BLACK FOR THEM, TO SEE THE TEARS THAT I’VE ALREADY CRIED

BEFORE YOU SPEAK ABOUT THE BLACKNESS ON SOME ONES SKIN
LOOK A LITTLE BIT DEEPER, BECAUSE THEIR LIGHT SHINE WITHIN
AND IF YOU LOOK JUST A LITTLE CLOSER, YOU'LL REALIZE IT'S NOT A SIN

    TO BE BLACKER THAN MIDNIGHT
    BLACKER THAN CHAR
MADE ME ALREADY AWARE, I AM BLACKER THAN YOU ARE

BUT WHEN YOU FEEL THAT I AM,
    BLACKER THAN COAL
    BLACKER THAN INK
ARE YOU,AWARE OF THE WORDS, YOU SPEAK & THINK

BECAUSE SOMEOME WILL ALWAYS BE BLACKER THAN YOU, BLACKER THAN ME,
BLACKER THAN THE SKIN, YOU CLAIM YOU CAN'T SEE

Wonderfully posed. Your words shined, regally, like the Black queen that you are. I could feel the hurt, but I could also feel the strength. Flow on, poet.

    This was very moving...
    Your message was strong
    it's unfortunate that people
    think like this...
when some of the most pale
    individuals are those that
    are dark on the inside...
and that has nothing to do
    with color...

    I feel you...

Your light was shining brightly from within...on this peace

Thank you for sharing this with us...
we are better because of it... :grouphug:

WOW I MUST SAY THIS WAS TIGHT. I LOVED THE WAY THIS FLOWED. STAND TALL AND BELIEVE THAT BLACK TRUELY IS BEAUTIFUL. ALSO REMEBER THAT BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER, EVERYONES SENSE OF BEAUTY IS NOT THE SAME. REMEBER THAT BEAUTY MUST FIRST START WITHIN, AND YOU MUST LOVE YOURSELF BEFORE YOU CAN LOVE ANYONE ELSE. MUCH LOVE AND BELESSING. PEACE.

This poem is like a breath of fresh air
i know what it's like to be judge by your skin
by the people who say they share the same color of skin

But im more than ok with the ebony color i have
and im glad you are proud of the color you have
im glad you wrote this poem
im glad to have read it
    keep the flow going
    peace out :spinn:

Sista, welcome and let me tell you, Black is the universal color of love. At least in my book. My two nieces are dark-skinned and were teased in school, but they are BEAUTIFUL. And I tell them often. I loved your poem, but I love the fact that you are strong even more. Keep flowing, sista. Represent that dark skin you were blessed with. You are a jewel.
