I recently saw a profile message from member who sought to insult me by calling me a ''EUROPEAN BORN AFRICAN''..lol.. but ohhhh how I love my culture, my language, and most importantly the SPIRIT! My middle name is OLATOKUNBO which translate in English to: 'my riches came from overseas''(note: the name is not given to uplift the west, but has more to do with the circumstances surrounding the child's birth) Children are precious gifts from the Gods in the Yoruba culture; so precious, that our naming ceremonies (when a child is born) lasts for 7 days!... all circumstances surrounding child's birth is taken into consideration when choosing a name/names for the child. Alas! what was directed at me (and other Africans who where born outside the continent) as an insult, is actually a complement... a name given to me by my great-grandmother who used this opportunity to send a message to me in Spirit. Oh how I love the SPIRIT! ASE, ASE, ASE!
