    “Wow! It’s a Black Girl!”
    You just noticed?
    Oh, I’m sorry
    You must be a novice
    I is what I is
Though I know what it is
Let me make it very clear
    I know what I am
    Wam! Bam!
    Thank you, ma’am!
Just thought I’d let you know
    If you gave a ****
    But you clearly don’t
Still stuck on a rap lyric
I don’t care if you know it
And I don’t want to hear it
And I won’t spit it for you
I’m not about to play that role
    I got better ambitions
    Deep in my soul
    Drop it like it’s hot?
    Let me spit hot fire
    Burn you with words
    That would kill that desire
    Inquire
    More than my ethnicity
    Learn complexity
    Deep in my simplicity
    Diversity
    Lies deeper than my skin
    Deeper than the blood
    That would make us kin
    Sin
    Like our history books
    Robbing my people
    History crooks
    There is more to us
    Than B.E.T.
    More to being Black
Than what you see on TV
    Reality
    Let’s cut the formalities
Wipe the ignorance from your eyes
    Step out of the fantasy
    Look at me
    See more than my flesh
    See what could happen
    If our souls could mesh
    But I’m afraid they won’t
    ‘Cause you’re so hollow
    I hope that ain’t

    A hard pill to swallow
