FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!

December 21, 2011

PEOPLES ORGANIZATION FOR PROGRESS
WILL BE IN THE 154TH DAY OF PROTEST FOR JOBS ON CHRISTMAS DAY

On Sunday, December 25th, the Peoples Organization for Progress (POP) will have a demonstration and rally on ‘Christmas’ day!
The rally will mark day 154 of the Daily People’s Campaign for Jobs, Peace, Justice and Equality. The Campaign was launched on June 27th to dramatize the impact of draconian public policies on ordinary people. POP vows to host this daily action everyday for 381 days in honor of the epic Montgomery Bus Boycott that propelled a young Martin Luther King Jr. onto national consciousness. A ‘national jobs program’ is at the top of the list of the core issues driving the Daily Campaign.

The (7) demands of the daily protest are:
• FOR A NATIONAL JOBS PROGRAM!
• TO END THE WARS IN AFGHANISTAN, IRAQ AND LIBYA!
• TO PRESERVE WORKERS RIGHTS AND COLLECTIVE BARGANING!
• FOR A MORITORIUM ON FORECLOSURES!
• TO OPPOSE PRIVITAZATION OF PUBLIC EDUCATION!
• FOR A NATIONAL HEALTHCARE PROGRAM!
• FOR AN AFFORDABLE COLLEGE EDUCATION!

Monday through Friday, the Daily Campaign takes place from 4:30-6pm at the Lincoln Monument, Springfield Av. and West Market Street. Saturdays, the Daily Campaign takes place on Broad and Market Streets, downtown Newark from 12 noon to 2pm. On Sundays, the Daily Campaign returns to the Lincoln Monument from 2-3pm. Monday’s March and rally will replace the normal 4:30-6pm action for that day only!
The People’s Organization for Progress meets every Thursday at Abyssinian Baptist Church, 224 West Kinney Street, Newark at 6:30pm.

I'll be honest. I like black culture forums, so I've signed up for this one, BX, and Lipstick Alley. I won't post too often, only on things that I'm really interested in. Nice to meet you. :)
