I'd like to call you friend
    I mean never pretend
    friendly pretenses
    but when tense is steps
    from tempests
    and my densness is no
    impairment to percieve
    the need
I'd like to draw you into
    my arms and trade warmth
    beneath my wings that
    I would gladly spread
to cover you from the storm
    even protect you from harm
    and when steps along the
    paths of life turn precarious
    by way of various footfalls
    in shifty patterns
    automatically I would
    reach for you to help
    you keep your footing
or help you up when you
    fall
    it matters not the weather
    when it comes to anyone
    who's won the simple
    and true name "friend"
    I believe that is what
we should be to the end...
