Let's go back to the time, when Hip Hop was used as a
tool to educate and bring about black self awareness..
When Public Enemy was telling us to "Fight the Power"
and to "Don't Believe the Hype"....
Artists like Rakim was enlightening us about "The Ghetto"
NWA was telling us to "Express Yourself"...
Arrested Development would sing out "We're Just Everyday People"..
Queen Latifah would remind us not to forget about the sistahs,
because in this struggle, it's "The Ladies First"
and if any us brothers stepped out of line with the derogatory
term used to put down a woman, she would be quick to check him
with "Who You Calling A *****"?, As she would yell out the following.."U.N.I.T.Y"...
But Brand Nubian would sing in agreement "All For One" and when our
sistahs was feeling down, Tupac would tell'em to "Keep Ya Head Up"..
Yes, Back in the day..(K)nowledge (R)eign (S)preme, what happen?
Like Common said "I Used To Love HER".....

Black People, let's go back to the time when
we shouted slogans like "Black Power", "Black is Beautiful"
When we wasn't afraid to tell the white man that "I'm Black and I'm Proud"
and we would say it loud...
When the only gang sign we threw up was a fist...
When dishikis and afros was the style of the day...
When the only thugs in our community was considered a threat
    to the government......
Let's go back in time black people when we spoke our native tongue,
Danced in tribal ceremonies, gave reverence to the Creator threw the
    ancestors and mother nature.......

I want to go back to a time when we was "us"
I was me and me we're we.....Let's time travel...
    Black People, let's time travel.....

Oh do I remember those days, and your words really gave us the flavor of those times. Yes, it would be wonderful if we could get that back. I enjoyed and appreciated your flow.

Thanx everyone. I know that we're suppose to move towards the future but as I contemplate on certain time frames in our past, I feel that we had it more together as a people. Let our past be our inspiration.
