Governor Arnold Schwarznegger has officialy denied clemency to Tookie Williams at 12:41 PT. This will be another sad day in history for BM inspiration once again. I am deeply hurt. Sure he did his dirt, but many people, especially whites don't realize that he could've had in impact on young whites involved in gang activity as well. Unfortunately, as we all know, he will be set for execution at 12:01 am early Tuesday morning:( . A little feed back please...........How do you all believe this will affect the current gang culture for better, and worse?

I agree Akilah. I think it will get worst.

I would think that by killing Tookie it would amount to crushing what little hope a gang member has of turning his life around.

I agree Sekhemu. I read the statement and there is no doubt in my mind that Schwarznegger is a biggot. This case was never reviewed by innocence or redemption but by race. Who would it hurt to keep him in jail for the rest of his life?

This will make a big impact on gangs
things will get worse because they know
if this man can't be saved then no one can
many youngsters will be lost to gangs that
he was turning around in life , after his deadly
acts surely he was a changed man and a blessing

May God rest his soul.........Very sad to hear this.

I don't know if he's a biggot. He may be. I realize that this man isn't from our country and is blind to the things that really go on in poverished inner cities. He's been shielded from these issues in his life as a Hollywood actor and doesn't have a clue. It seems to me, and apparently many other Californians, that he was never qualified to be a governor in the first place. Anyhow I'll be praying tonight.

    What a pity...

Like I stated in the "Save Tookie Williams" thread, I don't
believe the man should be upheld as a hero, but as others
have stated, his death by lethal injection serves no good
purpose. It will not magically bring the folks he's alleged
to have murdered back to life, and is senseless when he
could be continuing to educate and speak out against
the whole gang culture that he helped to elevate. His
execution will only act as a catalyst for continued apathy,
rage, and bitterness amongst our at risk african american
young men and will probably influence many to join gangs
that haven't already. This country and the powers that be,
are just as responsible for the deaths of those folks as Mr.
Williams is alleged to be....if it wasn't for the conditions that
continue to exsist in AmeriKKK that lead to the creation of all
these d*amned gangs, "Tookie" prolly would be a black studies
Prof at UCLA or somewheres, or a lawyer, or doctor, heck maybe
even "just" a truckdriver.. think about it... The man is obviously
intelligent. He just didn't have the opportunities, support, or
advantages that the white majority of the population take so
MUCH for granted ! I'm not exscusing the things he's admitted to
doing and is alleged to have done... but to be strapped down to a
table and be injected w/ a substance to end your life after having
sat in prison for 24 years having become a changed man...to me
that is just cruel, unusual, and barbaric punishment.

    Supreme Court rejects Williams' plea

The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to stay the execution of convicted killer Stanley Tookie Williams, clearing the way for him to die by injection shortly after midnight.

The high court was the former gang leader's last chance to escape execution following a denial of clemency from California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier Monday and an appellate court panel rejected a request to stay his execution.

    The sad reality

The sad reality is this brother will die for a crime inwhich there is no repayment, no restitution, no reward, no compensation or no reversal. So knowing that the families of those individuals who die at the hands of this man will never get back what they have lost, what is the real purpose for killing this man? Will his blood satisfy justice or the thirst for revenge? Is it more just that the state be satisfied with this man's death or that he has been rehibilated and can be used in the war against gang violence. Will his death serve as a deterent for all gangmember to stop murdering or face the consequences of there actions? Please! We know the answer to that question. Finally how is it the a man who supposedly murdered 4 people can be put to death yet a man who not only murdered 17 people but dismembered, stored and ate body parts from his victums get life in prison? Granted each state has different laws but who is more of a menace to society? Why should tax money be spent to house a murdering cannibal for the rest of his life but same can't be done to house a murderer of a lesser degree? I believe Ice T said it best, "Justice or Corruption it's all interlaced. How can you swallow this I can't stand the taste.".

    Peace.....
