*dedicated to everyone who can relate*

I always knew you'd be the stronger of the two of us
And I knew you'd set us on the path called "strait"
You know that I have true love for you, but I've been
keeping myself ready, though not always willing
and only able by God's power, to do whatever it
takes to "save" us.... from ourselves

I was never blind; I've seen the signs, but I've been
stubborn ~ clinging to something so wonderful,
but just not meant for me
And though I see with carnal eyes and finite
understanding, I've never wished to block your
    growth; especially spiritually...

We wanted so badly to believe our love was part of
    the Plan...

So how can I say this, my sweetest love? My words
are heavy with so many waiting tears...

    LET ME GO!
in the same instant that I let go of you
Let the fingers of our clasped hands unlock
    simultaneously
Let our arms fall from each other's embrace
    in unison
    Let our kiss be sweet
    and final

Withdraw that part of you I never should have touched
    ~quickly~
Release that part of me you've held,
    in that same moment

Because you know the depths and the heights
of our incredible journey in love,
    My Love
and you know these words are beyond
    unbearable for me...

my only hope lies in knowing we will
    one day know peace

    so, this I ask

please let me go, walk away

    and look forward

What resides in a woman that such beauty flows? You make a brother wanna "know that girl" who be expressing herself like that, see things like that, experience things like that but what I am gonna do is just leave it at that. Holla.

    could it have been that
what we had was meant for us to see
    even though
it was not meant for us to be

    i'll let you go

my hands shall release your hands slow
my heart shall dance it's last beat- slowly
and i shall move on- slowly

    ..this is a special one.

Rich... looking forward is hardest when we've left the best behind. Thanks for feeling it. :)

GA... in truth, this was a case of serendipity...while looking for another old poem to post, I found this one, and the memories came. But I'm feeling you anyhow. :)

K-ness... and whether or not you can relate... sometimes, it's mostly too heavy to bear. :)

GQ...thank you for diggin it. :)

    Rashad... many thanks. :)

Brotherman.... HOLL'IN!! you are far too kind. :)

J'hiah... I must commend you for diggin the finer point of this real-life piece...."meant for us to see"...and you know this... :)

this one is special, and so are all of you.
