These ol' bones has a story to tell
They tell ya of a life that wasnt so swell
My bones tell you as story of slavery
How I endured many nytes of battery
Been sold, bought, used, and abused
Been lied, cheated, defeated left confused
Ya'll dont understand what my life has been
To be left with out a mother, father or a friend
My scars run deep with in my old bones
Ya'll take for granted of your freedom and a place to call home
Dont know what's it like not to have nice things
All so focus upon your petty blings
Back in the day Church was all I had
And my people was united we didnt get mad
Still I'm sad
As I lie in my shallow grave with my battle scars
Squirming, tossing how God wont let you people get far
My children I never knew
My whole life was filled with the color of blue
I held true
That one day these Ol' bones will be free
And that history wont forget about me
For I fought back my fate was left hanging from a tree
Still I hope through my sacrifice all will remember thee
But all I can see
Is our people killing, striking, cheating, and full of deception
My brothas/sista's your leading into a place of destruction
For all the beatings, the hangings the suffering I feel was all in vain
You people dont know the true meaning of pain
Scared of a little rain
Some chose to be vain
To the fact that your ancestors all in lie in disqust
I tell them there's no need to make a fuss
Over the future of today
That why i say
Everyone will go on, and ponder what i say tomorrow
All must not forget the pain and sorrow
Be thankful for your strength, your will, your love, your life, your family and determination
Its time we unites as one become the intended nation
I feel tonight I had to come through
Take you people back to school
All you see is these Ol' bones
Remember you too have to come home
Can you truly say your bones will tell a story
