President Trump’s order this week for an
immediate hiring freeze could hurt African Americans more than other workers because they make up a disproportionate share of the federal workforce.

Black workers make up 18 percent of the nation’s 20.6 million federal workers — more than any other minority group. But they account for only 11 percent of employed civilians, a category that includes government and private industry work, and 13 percent of the U.S. population, according to government data.

Trump's Federal Hiring Freeze Could Hurt Vets: Officials

Veterans make up about 30 percent of the more than 2.8 million employees in the federal workforce -- many of them at the Defense Department. Vets have traditionally received preferences in testing and hiring and also in retention during reductions of the workforce, according to the White House Office of Personnel Management.

I don't believe so. Many of the veterans are Black, like my son and spouse.
As the new Commander in Chief, I look forward to seeing how he handles that role. Will he make exceptions for veterans? Who knows.

To put a freeze on the Department of Veterans Affairs shows what he
thinks, or not thinking, about wounded vets.

One of Trump’s first moves is already hurting a loyal group of supporters: Veterans

    WASHINGTON
President Donald Trump’s temporary hiring freeze on federal jobs is disproportionately affecting a group of his most loyal supporters: veterans, who receive preference in federal hiring. Some already have had job interviews canceled or postponed, advocacy groups say.

The hiring freeze also applies to the Department of Veterans Affairs, something that deeply troubles veterans groups and lawmakers, who say the freeze complicates the provision of veterans services by an agency that is chronically understaffed.

Yes, there will be an overlap of people who are both AA and Veterans. He sure is working double-time at decimating his approval rating.

Federal hiring freeze will be waived for VA jobs with ‘public safety’ missions, agency says

******“And I think the VA in particular, if you look at the problems that have plagued people, hiring more people isn’t the answer,” Spicer said. “It’s hiring the right people, putting the procedures in place that ensure that our veterans — whether health care or mortgages or the other services that VA provides to those who have served our nation — get the services that they’ve earned.”
    *******
This, from the Commander in Chief of the military
