Elijah Muhammad, the Nation of Islam's alleged "messenger of God" said that statement in his 1965 book Message to the Blackman in America.

    Your thoughts, if any?...

No he wasn't. Context is still everything. We have not had a "Black" President.. meaning.. President acting on behalf of black people.. and we never will.. because America is not just "Black".. and the President's job has to do with maintaining the status quo... for all people.. from Politicians to Prisoners.. and all of those people.. will be in the same position they were when each President comes.. and goes.. Barrack Obama included.. it has nothing to do with his heart.. or his intentions.. it has to do... specifically.. with the design and function of the Office of the President of the United States of America..

    Chapter 88, Paragraph 9 & 10:

"9 If our people in the South are permitted to vote, for whom are they going to vote? They will vote for none but
the white man whether the black man's vote out number the white man's or not. The fact that you can vote does
not mean that the white man will allow you to put men in Washington of your kind who would love to give you
justice, nor does it mean that you will be voted in as President of the country. You can never hope to attain this.

10 If you think because Kennedy said in 40 years a Negro man would become President of the country, he will
become just that, then you misunderstood. Never will a black man be able to rule a white man in America. He
was only referring to the so-called American Negroes' unity with his brothers. This will make him strong enough
to put a President in office, but not over white people."

Yes, we have our individual viewpoints, but what are the facts?

Whites in power can and do only change so much, i. e., in order to appease some of us, e. g. so we too will be a means to their ends, etc.

More than Obama has found that out, as in the hard way:

So doesn't matter which means/ways/etc. he plays it off, though does matter that we also don't let him play us cheap and close...

    I. e., read between the lines, as regards the means/ways the powers that be are also resolving the issues/problems, following that uprising in Baltimore, etc.

Obama's no mulatto inheritor of some rich white parent's dough:

So none of the whites --who also inherited their wealth from likewise-- truly considered him an equal--from the very beginning--etc.

    FYI

I can't wait for yt to get back into office, that way many of us can be happy. We won't need to learn how our government works because yt will tell us, knowing that we will not read it for ourselves.

We won't have to read such nonsense as this:
Obama’s Health Law: Who Was Helped Most
The biggest winners from the law include people between the ages of 18 and 34; blacks; Hispanics; and people who live in rural areas.
    http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...-who-was-helped-most.html?_r=0&abt=0002&abg=0

Or, how about this action he took.
Obama Plans Clemency for "Hundreds, Perhaps Thousands" of People Sentenced for Drug Law Violations
    http://www.drugpolicy.org/news/2014...housands-people-sentenced-drug-law-violations

I know Obama didn't mean for this law that he signed would help black folks. After all, it was Yt that made it for the purpose of locking most of us up

New Legislation Important First Step But Sizeable Sentencing Gap Remains.
President Obama today signed an historic piece of legislation that narrows the crack and powder cocaine sentencing disparity from 100:1 to 18:1 and for the first time eliminates the mandatory minimum sentence for simple possession of crack cocaine. Before the Fair Sentencing Act, those penalties required 100 times as much powder cocaine as crack cocaine to invoke equal mandatory minimum sentences. The impact of the disparity fell disproportionately on African-Americans.
    https://www.aclu.org/news/president-obama-signs-bill-reducing-cocaine-sentencing-disparity

So if I read the above correctly, Obama has done something to help blacks.

What we are forgetting is that he is the president of everybody, not just blacks. Curious, what do blacks expect him to do? Solve poverty, give all blacks jobs, personally oversee black families and solve their problems?

    Peace!
