There may not be a revolution,
but a change is surely gonna come
election day is almost upon us
Rock the vote, Vote or die
Was that Osama bin Laden saying
we could kiss our freedom goodbye?
What if the year 2000, becomes
    the present day 2004
    and the powers that be
    incorrectly tally the score?
    Hey I'm not being negative
    yet it could happen again
makes me wish we each could vote a
million times, and multiply them by ten.
But this reality is far beyond wishes
it gets right down to the real nitty gritty
If it all goes awry this time
    it ain't gonna be pretty
There may not be a revolution,
but a change is surely gonna come
    I'm thinking about the sixties
    and how our neighborhoods burned
    down all around the nation
    Remembering those heinous scars earned
    by rioting brothers, attacked by
ravenous canines, directed to kill by self
righteous policemen, who felt they were
doing their duty, while dreaming of apple pie
in the sky tales told to them when
they were only about knee high
about it being them or us, so it sure as
hell won't be them in that sweet home
    by and by and by
    and why?
Why, because those sisters and brothers
felt so much rage they just couldn't contain
it any more, feeling helpless and hopeless
no justice, no peace... of mind, insane
There may not be a revolution,
but a change is surely gonna come
Will we vote in countless numbers
in a way we never have before?
And when we do, will our votes
be counted for one whole person, or
for only three fifths of a person?
Say, when did this new law take effect?
Or is this a law that simply reappears when
there's a new president to elect?
There may not be a revolution
but a change is surely gonna come
Right now, I can only think of one solution
So, let's get out and vote
    and see what happens....

That's right brotha Rich, let's all get out there and VOTE. You're welcome, but actually thank you, for the countless times you've pulled everybody together.

"The first line is worth the price of admission" Thank you for that comment oldsoul, much appreciated. That line has been in my head for a while, wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, hope I at least half way did it justice.

This is sooooo tight, my sistah. Right now I'm too afraid to pen anything about this election, so thank you for speaking for me. You did a phenomenal job. :dance3:

    Sister...you so speak the sentiments
of our souls in this flow...
I'm on pins and needles as is all
    my brothers and sisters...
    on the verge of Revolution...
    we haven't burned anything
    physical...but our hearts, minds
and souls have been set ablaze
    by the injustices and crimes
    that are being committed by
    our own...so called leader...smh

Girl...you came with the tyteness on this one

Thank you so much gempis. I didn't want to come with it too hard, this is such a delicate subject I know. Your support is awesome.
Sage, the way you go in depth as to how the poem touched you, is like no one else. I know I just don't speak for myself when I say that I look forward to your replies. Thank you sis.
