Job openings in the United States declined by approximately 100,000 between March and April, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The total number of job openings has increased at a fairly steady rate[IMG] since hitting recession lows in 2009, but like most other indicators of labor market health improvements have been slow.

True, but our economy has been service oriented for years now, we've lost manufacturing jobs to overseas. Service is now what America is all about, not producing products. The question is, where are folk to fill these jobs? Why isn't the percentage of new hires, 22%, keeping up with job increases, 58%, Alarm Clock?

I did find this answer in the link you provided Alarm Clock, however, a paying job is a job when you need income, until you can do better, I thought. Wonder what our ancestors would say, they were forced to work for FREE? And we are still having a hard time getting Reparations:

Hey, grads, the U.S. created 175,000 new jobs net in May, par for the course for this "New Normal" (read: meh) economy we're in. But more than half of May's job growth was in the restaurant sector, retail trade and temporary employment — the same low-paying jobs that you were told college would help you escape. "[The] job growth reported in these sectors is more an indication of the weakness of the labor market than the type of jobs being generated by the economy," laments economist Dean Baker. You might not have to move back into your parents' basement, but we sure hope you like your new studio apartment on the corner of Ramen Diet Street and Shattered Dreams Avenue.

Also, if my understanding is correct, those jobs are vacant and waiting to be filled, Alarm Clock.
