    Theory of punishment and karma

Shri Anil asked, “ A person asked about the violation of the theory of punishment of the result of a sin in the form of illness in view of the medicines, yoga etc.”

Swami replied: The theory is not violated because the cure by medicines etc., is not universal in every case. In some cases the cure fails. In some other cases the cure happens and in such cases the duration of punishment was up to that time only. Unless the fixed duration finishes, the medicines etc., will not work. Moreover, the punishment of sin can be converted from one form to the other. This is present even in the world as you see “Thousand rupees fine or six months prison”.

Apart from this, there is possibility of postponement of punishment with accumulated interest to the later part of this life or to hell or to the next life in case re-birth is accepted. All these facilities are used by God when you pray God to avoid the punishment. In the case of the servant who serves God without the aspiration of any fruit in return, God can transfer the punishments of his sins on to Him and this is the main aim of human incarnation as you can see in the crucifixion of Jesus.

Exactly. The purpose is for us to find salvation in the faith of the Son for His sacrifice in the body on the tree, and to find redemption in the belief of the Son's works and teachings, and His resurrection from the dead on the 3rd day. When we keep faith, belief, works, and the commandments, then we find the cure for our sins, and that is the love of the Father and the Son. Blessings!
