Quite Intriguing! Since the fact is that we are today still fighting amongst our own kind (memeber we r on a black website)!
We need to keep in mind the wars that are wedged against us everyday! And they are to destroy us as a people!
Taking our Black Men faster and faster:(

    Another war is illiteracy!!!!
Remember when we sat in class and recieved a paragraph or two or three and had to correct the misspellings and wrong punctuations! Which seemed to be an fun way of learning, atless I thought so. There are lots of folks still illiterate of allll ages! And the computer doing the work for us doesn't help any but still and yet "NO ONE is BETTER then The NEXT, No Matter WHAT!!!

The 2 attacks on the community are a very serious strategy, and well planned.
At present, in our African history on this side of the Atlantic, we have a generation of young eople who have been scinetificaly disenfranchised of any quality education for their tax dollars.

The term take back the country is real! and they mean take us as African people back to the 50s

The 50s was a time of heavy drug, heroin infestation in our communites and gang violence

However the education systme did still allow the capacity for growth and enrichment!
The capacity for student creativity in curiculums was not surgicaly removed as it was in the late 80s.

Essay writing was not removed from English
Problem Solving was not removed from math,
Lab classes were not removed from science,
Music and Art, assorted musical instruments, glee clubs, the reading of musical notation,
sculpture, painting and drawing, were still there.
Home Econmcis cooking and nutritional info, shop classes rudiments of carpentry, and metal work as well as elecronics skills was still there,

so that from the combination of critical thinking and the freedom of creative capacities within the black youth,
the Black Power, Black Defense and black nationalist Movements were able to take birth
when these youth reached college age and adulthood in the 60s
As has been wel documented on this discussion board, the postive effects on building up the Black community, creating a disdain for drug use, and abusive actions towards each other, enraged the oligachy so COINTELPRO
attacked these organizations who espoused and multiplied these ideologies across the nation,
and changed the music and flooded the community with cocaine
from Soul music and Motown the music went to Disco, do your own thing and the wearing of coke spoons as a fashion statement.

However due to the inate feeling of Black pirde and unity among many musicians they
turned the tables on this crap and,
    within the Disco rythms and beats they created a new music of conscious upliftment;
Earth Wind and Fire, Mtume, The Isley Brothers (Fight the Pwers that Be) the Ojays (Give the People What they Want) Hubert Laws(Red Black and Green) The Main Ingredient (Black Seeds Keep on Growing) James Brown (Say it Loud!! I'm Black and I'm Proud)
Aretha Franklin (Young Gifted and Black)
and the Afrocentric Movement that made sure that African culture, and dance was seen at all television award shows, Ebony jet, United Negro College Fund, NAACP awards, even commercials

So a new music was allowed to flourish due to the demise of musical instruments and music classes in public schools in the late 80s,
however at this time olver North, barry Seal and others were making major moves in shipping cocaine into the nation, and by the time they had shipped so much,
under military and CIA auspices via the Contra connection in El Salvador, and Nicuargara,
    that they had to reduce the price;
the fun party type Hip Hop culture was changed to a nihilistic fratricidal, mysogenistic,

gangsta rap, that encuraged the selling of this newly reduced price cocaine.
The price of cocaine was lowered to the point were the rich man's high of freebase was
marketed on the streets of black communites as Crack

So lets trace back the moves, these attacks were made on the attempt of people
wrenched from their culture, trying to restore some vesitges of thier culture

    like the Nguzo Saba;

    Umoja-Unity
    [oo MOH jah]

To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race.

    [IMG] Kujichagulia-Self Determination
[KOO jee cha goo LEE ah]

To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves instead of being defined, named created and spoken for by others.

    [IMG] Ujima-Collective Work and Responsibility
    [oo JEE mah]

To build and maintain our community together. To make our brothers' and sisters' problems our problems to solve together.

    [IMG] Ujamma-Cooperative Economics
    [oo JAH mah]

To build and maintain our own businesses and profit together from them.

    [IMG] Nia-Purpose
    [NEE ya]

To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community and to restore our people to our traditional greatness.

    [IMG] Kuumba-Creativity
    [koo OOM bah]

To always do as much as we can in any way that we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than when we inherited it.

    [IMG] Imani-FAITH
    [ee MAH nee]

To believe with all our hearts in our GOD our people our parents, our teachers, our leaders and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.

therefore a return to these principles can and will restore the community,
by instilling a desire for unity to uniter in each community to rid our communites of this drug epidemic, (which will definatly get worse as the national economy declines),
as well as our taking a collective approach to establish edifices of educational excellence wether cyber, or "bricks and mortar"

Another interesting thing about Jim Crow that i didn't know, but was taught a few weeks ago in Bro. Oldsoul's sunday class was that Jim Crow was a white man who used to travel the country and do shows in Black face.....

    Interesting it is,

The term "jim crow", that at its origins was the name of a fictional character
derived from a song and how soon afterwards, this term has transitioned to
describe actions or a way of life that has become the enemy of black folk for
    decades.

And by ms. alexander's account, in a number of ways still is...

Yes, your overview is on point/on time...

But, let us agree to disagree about what you propose to resolve those issues/problems/etc., can or will be all that effective considering the present day evidence, i. e., at best, some merely consider identifying themselves as black the way you and others do as a mere option...

Everything else about them reflect it...

By your own admission, what has become popular is what others identify themselves as and with, and from my life experiences that just adds up to self hatred via new means and ways...

It is nothing new or news for our folk to contrast themselves with whites, but never before has it led to such self promoting and/or (obviously not realized by them) self demeaning fantasy tripping...FYI...

    FYI...

The Timing of all of this in conjunction to the major employers of black men disappearing; (since we do not employ ourselves to any large scale)
1 the various civil services; now being slowly privatized
    2. Trade unions , scabbed and attacked
    3. manufacturing blue collar jobs,
    and corporate white collar,financial services,
advertising and product design being outsourced,
brings to mind El Hajj Malik' most bitter statement
"You are nothing but an ex-slave"
That is the focus of the oligarchy, in this conspiracy to destroy Black men.
Well aware of the clause in the Emancipation Proclamation that one can be returned to slavery as payment for a crime,
a process had to be created to fill the prisons with workers for the Military Industrial Complex.
As corporations leave the United States, not just for cheap labor, but for foreign consumers with money to burn, in China India and Brazil due the slow death of capitalism here; according to economist Richard Wolf,
the oligarchy finds it cheaper to employ in US prisons the most populated in the world and pay what was a days pay, for a months work
Now would this have occurred if we educated our youth since the 70s, a well as provided employment in small black business and industry? Maybe yes maybe no.
According to the "Slave narratives" stories of Africans purchase and then set free by Quakers,
in traditional West Africa 400 years ago our youth had a love for learning, and peer pressure towards excellence in education (mandatory from 65 to 16)
and all had a disdain for any mind altering substances.
Therefore if this was part of our culture,
maybe it as some small aspects of our traditional culture that we need to fin a methodology to re-embrace.
The Jim Crow punitive laws packed us in the jails as prison labor on the chain gangs during segregation,
    After integration since no economic or educational fence was built to protect our youth and the community;
wars are now waged, overt and covert in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and in South America against nations trying to stop the Colombian cartels
to provide the "Product", and a music form and lifestyle of exorbitant opulence is used to hypnotize the youth to justify clocking it .
