i come to write being the victim of my own demise
captured by enticing interludes of egotrippin
on the lips of a last lie told first to truths faint whisper
hissing a lost glory of falsehood so sweet
repeating over and over an unrealized greatness
with all of the weight on my shoulders
    falling prey to unconscious insecurity
purity in quests to fill untouched reminders
binding me to a far gone past that never was
does the stance propel my minds door to close?
i pose the question of make believe chance
    this dance out of rhythm
the prison thats surrounds me is my own
honed over years of almost but not
that spot i aimed for missed against tomorrows dawn
i never suspected the lack of knowledge to move on
again i stand in this small cell
taunted by a hell i created
i always wondered why i had waited
an answer was payment on the full price
    the sentence...life

This brings to mind the feeling of being one's own worse enemy, a feeling that brings with it, its own sadness. I felt the ache in this piece. We always have to search for hope, no matter how small. Flow on poet.
