    The Tired Black Woman

When a Black Woman says she is tired
    She means tired tired
She means tired down to the marrow of her bones
Downs to her nerves and in her sinews
    She means tired tired

She don't mean a right now tired,
where you can get rested up after awile tired
She means a long way back tired.
Generation and Generations and Generations of tired
    Inherited tired
that she got from her mama and grandmama and
her great grandmama and even her great great grandmama
Years and years and years of tired
    She means tired tired

When a Black Woman says she is tired
Miles and years and centuries tired.
She means having to serve as Nefertiti's handmaiden tired
and trying to stay comely before Soloman tired.
She means slaving in the fields and hot sun tired
and bearing children and having them sold tired.
    She means tired tired.

When a Black Woman says she tired
She means surviving without a man tired
and raising children by herself tired
She means surviving with a man tired
and working and encouraging him tired
And boosting and supporting him tired
    She means tired tired

    She means the combined tired
    of Black Woman everywhere
    and of all times
and of all their tears and of all their fears
and of all their pain and grief and exhaustion
So when a Black Woman says she tired
She means tired tired tired tired tired tired.

I hear you poetess, it means her soul is tired, just plain weary. Loved the way you posed this, I could feel it in my bones with every line.

    Word.Is.Bond.

Black Women are tired, they just don't know why. Study your Self, Sisters, you are more than what they claim.

Give thanks for this piece, Truetothecause, it was hectic. Big ups.

    One.

That in itself tells a deep statement!!
    are we not ...
    "The Wonders of the World?"

To tired to go on...yet, been tired centurys too long...to give up!.
    There's no REST...for the worrie.
Surely (their) justice would be served once we get tired.
Great piece poet, I know ...and at times feel it too.

    (quote for life)
    Black Woman...
    From your tireness,
    Comes your Strength!
