Cool wet sand forms the shape of my feet
As I stand watching the movement of the sea
Evening tides crash against my legs
    Then, as if by magic
The great sea retreats into the vastness

Ever in awe of simple things
    Steady things
Like the sea and its tide
Since the first wave of a new earth
The tide rolls in, the tide rolls out
    Every day
    All day
    Simply
    Steadily
Strong winds only accelerate the pace
    But the movement goes unchanged

I wish to be as the tide
    Consistent
    Unmoved by a curious atmosphere
On my course in spite of a jealous moon
A tide un-flattered by the warmth of a teasing sun
    Steady

    Arriving whole
    A wave of many dimensions
    Leaving almost instantly
    Making its mark
From shore, to shore, to shore

    be
