restaurant operator headquartered in Orlando.[3] The firm owns several casual dining restaurant chains: Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, Eddie V's Prime Seafood, The Capital Grille and Yard House. Until July 28, 2014, Darden also owned Red Lobster. Darden has more than 1,500 restaurant locations and more than 150,000 employees, making it the world's largest full-service restaurant company.[1] As of 2012, Darden is the only Fortune 500 company with its corporate headquarters in Greater Orlando.[5]

Darden Restaurants Inc.’s former top executive is set to keep getting his base salary totaling about $2.4 million for two years after he’s officially separated from the company — but the severance agreement includes a pretty strict noncompete clause during that same time period.

Clarence Otis Jr. — former chairman and CEO of the Orlando-based restaurant company (NYSE: DRI) — will continue to receive his regular gross base salary of $23,294.23 per week from the time his separation from the company begins until two years later, according to a document filed with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission. Otis, who in late July announced plans to part with the firm, is expected to end his role as CEO of Darden either by Dec. 31, or earlier if a replacement is found. After that, the two-year period will be considered a leave of absence during which time he will continue to receive benefits.
