    The Scribe

The primadonna Scriber’s origins are unknown,
    Their inscriptions etching in stone,
    A movement of their soul,
They wish that unjust wrongs that their people face be expelled,
    So new laws they decree,
through their smooth verses of poetry.

    The Scriber,
Was the village sage that put building blocks in place
Passed down from generation to generation the true colorful Red, Black and Green history of our race.
They sat under the beyeobay tree and told the story the trickster spider Anasi They received wisdom by watching the moons conjuring up by the light of the fire an era of grace.

    The Scriber,
Taught us songs from our Mother Land, about how we were fashioned especially from GOD’s own hands.
He reminded us that we are Nubian Princesses and African Kings.
And the way it was then it should definitely be again,
Our people never use to grovel for anything.
This is all part of a bigger plan you see,
In order for the next generation to succeed,
    despite all our persecutions,
to rise above is our ultimate destiny.

    The Scriber’s,
Swift motions of their quill pens sweeps across the page,
Setting it ablaze, painting vivid stories unmasking pains,
Tells of untold grief helps them & others to sustain.

    The Scriber,
With every incantation they breaking the chains that enslave their mind

    The Scriber,
When performing is like a rattler spittin venom,
Infecting the listeners with pure unaquieted truth,
A Scribers words infiltrate straight to the soul,
The passion that lies inside of them is un-harnessed, uncontrolled,
So on you it explodes, by the way of a liquid fire flow.

    The Scriber’s,
Golden Tongue screams song that were unsung,
Takes you back to that time when we flourished & reeped plentiful harvest we had sewn.
All of Africa’s children turned into beautiful specimens highlighted by the golden rays of the sun.

    The Scriber,
    Doesn’t except defeat,
For if they are knocked down
like a sleek Egyptian black cat they will always land on their feet

    The Scriber,
With each issue captured a milestone, when the performance is done the message sent hits home,
Their sole goal is to leave the audience unable to catch their breath
With knots in their throats SPEECH---LESS

    The Scriber,
Their penmanship is their Emblem & Crest
The embody NO SELF-DOUBT only SELF—RESPECT!!!

Enjoyed this piece, speaking of the links between the writings of our foreparents and what we pen today. May we make our ancestors proud.
