the difference between us is not our ability to communicate or educate with our kids

it’s not our pessimistic ways verses our optimistic views on the world

the guiltiness that rest on our sleepless conscious after POP past away

or our ambitions that are pugnacious enough to fuel our drive an those around us

is it our pretentious personality
no wait that’s not it -lets keep faking it
apparently that’s the only way we can make it- work

the difference between us is not the company we keep or the achievements we seek

the souls we save or the promises we’ve made

the high we feel or the joy we steal

the shade of your skin or the skin that’s within

but the lies that we must tell, keeps us thirsting for that repenting well

there is no difference between us
we grew up in the same home
all of us being loved with the same tone
but the distance between us is unquestionably lonely as we’ve grown

we are still the same
we have the same name
