and i hope and know dj rogers jr. will change it, he doesn't even want to be called an r&b artist cause he knows how sad it is today. the big r&b king is going down(sadly,,,,r.kelly) but rogers sounds good, looks even better and his music ain't all about sex. He even writes his own lyrics adn for others like faith evans and carl thomas. i know kelly writes....all about sex anyway lol. i think rogers is sooo fine though. djrogersjr.com

I don't really think R&B music is quite that bad off - despite R. Kelly's absence it will thrive. There are still plenty of good artists out there representing R&B/Soul music - the key is giving them a chance. I think the listening public has become too content the cookie cutter sound - you know? The sampling, re-mixing and overall regeneration of songs only made a few short years ago.

To me, , R&B music was in trouble of being totally taken over by all these sound alike groups (112, Jagged Edge etc..) until about a year or two ago and then artists like Carl Thomas started to break out and bring it back to the individual artists with individual styles.

Since then its been maintaining pretty well. I doubt the scene will skip a beat when Kelly walks off into the sunset - way too many people waiting to take his place!

Kemetsrty has hit it right on the head. In the here today gone tonight world of pop music... quality of production, lyrics or sensability are not a requirement. It's all in the short term marketing, not in the music.
