The root cause of the breakdown of the black community and society on whole is the seperation of people from God. When the majority of the people in this country went to church we didnt have anywhere near as many societal problems that we now face, especially in the black community. In the past black people used to draw strength from their faith in God--this faith had enabled us to overcome slavery, racism and poverty in order to accomplish great things such as the building of schools ,towns and numerous inventions. Faith in God was the reason why the black family used to be so strong and united even in the face of the harshest injustices. Our lack of faith has caused us to suffer in so many ways such as fathers not being at home to take care of their children, STDs,rampant crime, kids having sex way to early, etc. The 1960s was the period when black people and people in general started to lose their faith and stopped going to church and you clearly can see this is the same period we started having so many societal problems . The reason we have lost faith is because of Satan's ability to make a lie appear like the truth and vice versa.Satan has lied to us by telling us that christianity is a belief made up by white people to subjugate black people--unfortunately many of us have swallowed whole this lie. We must resist the lies of the devil because he wants us to suffer the same fate as he will suffer(eternal damnation) . If the day came that people returned to God most of the problems facing the world would disappear, but unfortunately as prophesy has shown us ,this day will never come because many people have harden their hearts and closed their minds against God because they have allowed Satan to control their thinking and will never accept God. We must pray to God in repentence and accept Jesus as our lord and savior in order to gain salvation--their is no other way to get to heaven and experience eternal life.

I hate it when Christians start ranting about how holier things were in the past.

You think slavery was moral and Christian? Men and women getting whipped everyday and forced to work for no wages. Or women getting raped? Or white men denying their mulatto children created from the rape of black women?

Or how about the Jim Crow era? Black men getting lynched basically because they were black. Black people forced to live in segregation from whites because they were believed to be 'diseased.' Black towns like Rosewood getting burned down to the ground. That's really Christian huh?

Or, if you don't want to look at the evils white Christians did against blacks, why don't you look at what they did to each other and other races? Look at what they did to Native Americans. Look at all the wars they started both in Europe and countries of color. They and their Bible have caused nothing but absolute mayhem throughout the world, but because they looked down on gayness so much as to kill a person, or did a better job of hiding so-called sexual indiscretion, Christians seem to think they were more moral.

Give me today's era over the past any day, especially considering I am a black woman. The so-called 'morality' problems we have with sex and reproduction can be solved with wearing a condom.

So do you think that things are better today? Black still face racism today. The black community is being ravaged by STDs and black women are being depicted as sex objects in just about all the music videos you see on TV.
Wearing a condem doesnt protect you anywhere near 100% from STDs or pregnancy.

I don't have to worry about getting lynched in today's time, so yes it is significantly better. Though even today there are ocassionally KKK-like violence against blacks (like the man that got dragged by the truck), for the most part blacks don't have to fear whites will kill them or burn down their community. Most of the racism is subconscious... people believing blacks must be ghetto, and acting accordingly (denying blacks jobs, pulling over black men, etc.).

As far as blacks being 'ravaged' by STDs, sexually the only thing I think blacks are doing different from whites is not using condoms. If they used condoms, they wouldn't contract STDs.

As far as music videos, etc. women have always been sexually objectified. You don't think they had porn and prostitution back in the so-called holier eras of the past?

Anyway, I stand by my statement... I'd take today's era over any other at least considering American history. Today I can vote, get a job, go to school and pretty much fulfill my dreams despite racism. In another era I would either be a slave or subjagted to Jim Crow laws.

Racism is the only area where we are better but we still have huge problems with racism . A recent study was conducted on the hiring practices of certain companies and it was found that a white ex convict has a better chance of being hired for a job than a black man with no criminal record. There are also some employers who will throw out a resume just because the person who is applying for the job has a "black sounding name " so we are not by any means free of racism.

I guess you never of Rodeny King who was beat up by the cops or Yusef Hawkins who beaten to death by white kids with baseball bats or Amidu Diallo who was shot 19 times and killed by the cops when all he was doing was standing in front of his house or Abner Louima who was brutilized by the cops in a new york precinct all these things happened within the last 20 years or less. I remember an incident when i was attending to Junior high school in a white neighborhood ther was black boy who was being chased by a bunch of white boys with baseball bats because he did something or another to one of the white boys sister, so Lynchings and beatings still happen just like in the jim crow days.

Again, the number of these incidents do not compare to how many that happened during the Jim Crow era. Today we might have a few dozen... back then, in the 'holier' eras we would've had thousands.

it happens alot more often than "a few dozen" Racism is illegal today because of a black christian minister(MLK) was able to make that final push to put civil rights legislation in motion.

Whatever we have happening today multiply it by 1,000 to see how often it happened back in the holier years.
