    too many sanguine rivers
run circles around shards of broken memories
    and mondays not met

    streetlamp candles burn sideways
    and the smoke clouds prayers
    of the oppressed

is it only in existence where
    wishing wells are dried up
    or a place where the
    misguided splash their feet
    before laying down at night
    beneath coroner sheets?

    I saw yesterday where footprints
chased themselves trying to get to
    somewhere
    somewhere
    looking for that someone they
    can call their own

journeys are entered with no destination
deleted of voice so the soul walks among
the walls of malt liquor bottles looking
at itself in reflections of castrated inflections

    and the rivers run dry
    splattered on redbrick and nightsticks
searching for a place to empty itself
