The Lone-Star State
Occupation
Poet
Even when a poet is great
She needs to be nurtured
Maya Angelou, played and drank
Hence, the nomenclature

Langston Hughes knew the blues
Busing tables, waiting...
Funny thing ~ owing dues
Famous ain't in faces

Even though a poets great
His words may go unloved
Dying for that fatal break
Good men, due, pass on

Our j-o-b is writing poems
Our art... to suffer strife
No, classified for me (polite)
What happened to the lights?
